Default Amazon and it's union busting

Amazon Canada investigated for violating Employee Standards Act

Another example of the union busting/stalling techniques employed by Amazon. What amazes me is that I've run into a few folks who are so excited at the prospect of Amazon Air or justifying a career move over it.

Thoughts?

I think the best deal is working for a private company that doesn't have to answer to stock holders. It is a recurring theme

There is not a doubt in my mind that AAWH and ATSG have stalled contract negotiations in a clear and deliberate effort to either show Amazon or are getting orders from Amazon to not sign a deal. I know for a fact the ATSG has no deadline on management side to get a deal done. What does that say for Atlas considering they have even more ties to Amazon. I bet next year at this time neither company will have yet to see a contract. So yea, I fully believe it’s union busting here as well; just looks different...I don’t see how it could get better if they actually owned an airline. They’d be better off to get a cheap non union one and build it from there and phase out the ACMI unionized carriers.

I see your point.... thank goodness there really isn’t one laying around with access to planes.

Amazon can only hide the money for so long before the minions (yes, that includes us pilots) start getting really cranky and affect the daily operation. Once they feel the pain *AND* they have no where to run, they will deal with the employee groups or group that’s causing the problems.

Amazon is doing NOTHING new in regards to operating a business, it’s a textbook play, “make a bunch of money and expand as fast as you can before the employees unionize” ... and force you to pay them a living wage.

They don’t want to buy anything thats got a union on property because they can’t dissolve the contracts, hence the reason I believe they will continue to whip saw the ACMs to move the boxes.

One question I can’t understand or answer is why Brown and Purple doesn’t give them a 30 day notice that they will no longer provide logistic services for Amazon. Talk about making Bazos feel the pain, that would do it.

Their pilots won't work forever for free....if they got 200 aircraft for Amazon and had to try to keep pilots on property it would take a better contract than K4s.....they already have stock warrants up to 60% of ATSG and Atlas combined might already be in the works which would probably still suck

60%... combined...? I don't follow. Are you adding percentages?

Are you trying to say that Amazon has 60% of 200% of both those companies?

This is pretty likely in my opinion.

However, I also wouldn't discount the influence of DHL (which owns 49% of Polar Air Cargo) on our collective situation.

Lots of moving pieces, some exerting more or less pressure at different times.

The execs are like exotic dancers working the crowd, giving more or less attention to those who wave the dollar bills.

They now have warrants to buy 30% of Atlas and 20% of ATSG. The Atlas% goes higher as they add aircraft.

It doesn't matter what MGMT wants: To add aircraft anywhere, businesses will have to pay pilots a lot more than they have traditionally. I think at Atlas, with all of the expansion planned, an industry standard contract will not be enough.

I wouldn't say Amazon "has" 60%. They just increased their order of aircraft from ATSG which also gives them stock warrants up to 40% of ATSG. And they have 20% with Atlas. Puts them in the 60% range of the combined companies if they decide to exercise them. I think they also have some additional warrants for another 10% at Atlas if the increase their aircraft order.
