Question Focus Air Cargo

Hi guys...I'm going to be chatting with Focus Air Cargo and need to get the scoop before I go. The problem is, the company is new...so other than basic facts on their website...I know nothing. I had heard rumors of "pay for training"...I don't buy that; and won't for that matter. What do you guys know and think? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I interviewed and recieved a job offer from Focus. I did not accept that job offer. They are not pay for training, in fact everyone hired for the two pilot seats is currently being type rated. The confusion with the pay for training is the ERAU CAPT program. The students from that program pay for there training up too the commercial multi, just like those of us had to do that weren't in the military. I believe that they are then considered "interns" and work in the office as flight followers. Then after a set amount of time get trained as an engineer, then the right seat.
Pay is mediocre for the equipment and there was no 401(k) when I visited with them.

Question

Thanks FO...I understand that they pay...$59 for a 60 hour per month guarantee and a 19 day work month. Does that sound right? Do you know anything about the health insurance or benefits? No 401k? Doesn't sound like they expect to keep pilots. Know anything about their financial backing...they sound like they are pretty healthy in this department. You didn't take the job...bad pay and 401k were the main reasons...what were your other thoughts on the outfit? I understand that they are interviewing at a hotel for 2 days...any word on what goes on? Any sim checks? Did they have a temporary office...did you see anything that made you think...hmmmm? Thanks for the reply.

Default Focus Air

It appears that they have real good backing. All the people during the interview were very nice...in fact very nice. They have a good model and I think they will do well. In todays market it is hard not to make Cargo money. I was overall pleased with all that I saw. Give me a shout and I will give you all the details.

I turned down the job because I had something better come my way and at the time they still did not have there operating certificate. They do have a permanent office in the FLL but apparently it is way to small for them and there is no way that they could hold interviews there. So they do it at the hotel down the street. Very Very nice people, they even fed us breakfast and lunch for the two days of interviews. Health insurance and dental are provided at no cost to the employee (when I interviewed anyway). They may have a 401(k) now, I am not sure. The CEO of the company even came in a spoke with us for about an hour during the second day. I hear that they are now flying a contract for CargoLux, but I am not sure about that.

Default training bond

Does anyone know whether Focus Air requires a training bond/ contract for new hires; and if so how much it is? Any other info would be appreciated as well. Thanks very much!

Is focus going to be added to the airlines section of this website?

No training bond. Just interviewed and was offered a job. For a startup they seem to be moving in the right direction. We'll soon see.

Default Focus Cargo Airlines- FLL

Does anyone have any inside info on Focus airlines? How many planes? The Domicle? Pay? What type aircraft? Where do they fly to?

They have an office near the FLL airport, but they do not answer their phone?

No message machine either?

Thanks much.
