Default UPS School

Can anyone that has recently passed through UPS school give advice on taking a car to training?

I plan on driving down to Lousiville from Northeast, PA (11 hour drive), but the Hampton Inn only has me scheduled for 14 days. Then I assume that I will be going somewhere else for MD-11 training?

My questions are:

Will I be leaving my Jeep in Louisville the whole 10-12 weeks of training, or will I be driving it back here to the Northeast before I head out to MD-11 school?

Where will they likely send the MD-11 new-hire students?

Do most students jumpseat home on the weekends?

Thanks for the help. I am looking forward to meeting all the April 23rd noobies.

A car is probably a good idea. About half of my class had cars. You'll be in SDF for longer than 14 days. If you're heading out to LGB for MD-11 sims you will still go back to SDF after your checkride for long range nav crap. Regarding jumpseating, you'll have your ID and CASS info by the end of week one and you should have a couple of three or four day weekends that you can get home on.
See ya in ANC

Another possibility, and I'm shooting from the hip, is that you might be at the Hampton Inn for two weeks because the "normal" hotel wasn't available. The most commonly used hotel in SDF in the Hurstborne Holiday Inn. I've also seen the Clarion and the Envoy used in the past, for long term training. The Hampton Inn is a new one.

Remember Derby is coming up so hotels are at a premium, don't be surprised if where you stay changes. Car is a good idea, but not necessary someone in your class will have one. With your UPS ID it gives you access to secure parking so if you do go to Long Beach you can leave it in SDF till you finish. Also remember you are given a hotel till completion of IOE including your release to the line check. By the way in Long Beach you will share a car with your sim partner (so I have been told). Welcome aboard see ya in ANC.

You will no doubt be in SDF longer than 2 weeks! Drive! Depending on the hotel van will suck!!!!!!!!!!!!! I drove 8.5 from DC and it has been well worth it...
