Will the -800 be a separate group of pilots than the -400? Same hourly rate?

All 737 pay is the same...the worst at Atlas.
Atlas is not filling classes on any fleet, so if you want to hold out for the 747, which is the highest pay, you should be able to.

The downsides that are reality:
1. no systems class (not enough people to teach one) so you’re basically self-teaching a type rating,
2. Training schedule is pretty grueling (there is a week or two window where you’re off but after that, any time to go home is long gone,
3. Training pay blows ($1600/mo plus $60/day per diem),
4. If you screw up your bidding, it is very possible to be 34 or more days on in a row,
5. If you’re in 737, be prepared for every idiot 777 driver to tell you how their plane is so big you 737 fuselage can fit in to their engine nacelle (eyeroll),
6. The whole contract thing....however, if/when a new contact comes to fruition, it won’t be a bad place to be.

The good I’ve seen:
1. The flight crews are top notch in terms of experience and qualifications,
2. While the training is tough, it’s manageable, like every other 121 airline,
3. The -800 fleet is getting started May 2 and lines are showing better pay and more flight time,
4. The whole contract thing....however, if/when a new contact comes to fruition, it won’t be a bad place to be.

Everyone has to make their own decisions on where they end up working and if you don’t like it, leave. It’s literaly that simple.
Yeah. Get on the -800. You will never see the light of day again, prehaps a glimpse while you look out your comfort inn hotel room at 2pm waking up feeling groggy a sheeit...

Thought that 747 wasn’t being assigned anymore? If they were, thought those classes would at least be filled up

Trips I’ve seen on -800:
Make one flight. Sleep. Make another flight the next day. Sleep.

Rinse and repeat for 17days. Doesn’t look too bad.

Obviously Not a great place to build flight time and that is exactly the type of pilots that would fly a 737 for 40k.

The -800 is a beautiful, thoroughly modern aircraft with a cockpit ergonomically designed to fit anyone comfortably. The brakes are especially fantastic as well.
