I have a few questions about Southern:
On APC I see 737 crews are CVG based and it also says starting in Sept they are gateway based, what exactly does that mean? Are you positive space and provided a hotel when commuting to CVG? (Sorry new to that term)
What are the lines like on the 737? If you live at one of the overnights are the overnights long enough to go home say if your an hour drive?
Can you request the 737 or is it just luck of the draw in the hiring process? (if I meet all minimums for both airframes)
Thanks

Hub turns, out and backs, all nighters. Day time sleeping. You’re a freight (kitten) dawg now.
Day one 2:0am wake up call. 5am departure. This is your life. Come on over, and see for yourself

You knows what’s getting old. Month after month doing all nighters. No upgrade in sight, no CBA in sight. Get a 777 type for a “juicy” overseas contract.
Ah yes. The American dream, living in xaxunaig China, flying around in the toxic, communist nation- don’t scratch the airplane or off to Jail you go.

You’re not interested in ACMI or LCC, but the upgrade to a Boeing is so easy. And all that cash!!! 80k... imagine, you too could fly in China under a Filipino crew leasing contract after slumming it at an ACMI for a few years for that easy upgrade. I’m sure United is begging you to come on over. Can you give me a letter of rec?

As for flying "in China toxic communist nation etc"... That made me laugh. I doubt either of you spent much time there. Moreover, I never mentioned China.
Back to the topic. How are the 777 overnights : long enough to do stuff? Good hotels? Downtown or in slums near the field?
Thanks.

We can ask for beer and say thank you in Cantonese and mandarin. You referenced lucrative 777 contracts. Those are all in China. Several of us have been to The Middle Kingdom a time or two. Hell, I’ve even seen Mao. Your years of erj experience and confidence will be an asset to your new employer. The air quality in The PRC is excellent, as are the drivers and military ATC.

Training center failure rates are increasing to never before seen levels. I just acted as a mentor to the 3rd terminated new hire I am aware of.
A word of caution to those seeking the entry level wide body international gig for those follow on “juicy” cargo jobs. A failure on your record, recently, at this level will be a discussion item in your next interview. Is it worth it for a $40-60k per year 737 job (pay is based on % of 747 tonnage).
Your prospects for flow and salary are much greater at the regionals. Atlas upgrades are at a trickle, and growing longer.
