Personally, it’s not about the pink slip for me. If you told me that I would get paid either the same or less, but fly the 777 with worse QOL or go to a regional and be able to upgrade quickly, have a decent contract, and get paid the same or higher, I’d be at the regionals

Agreed. I would not take a Delta, United, American or LCC job to go back to being a commuter. The family unit will never move; so the home basing aspect of the ACMI and never needing a crashpad has huge value to my family. The single longer trip with much larger block time off also works better for our frequent vacations.

P.S. your argument is a illogical fallacy.

Congrats SoFloFlyer. Learn as much as you can from the captains you fly with (good & bad), upgrade as soon as possible, try to be the best captain you can, and earn your way into the Training Department. You will be money ahead in the long run when a top tier airline calls.

Except for when it came around to interviewing and weighing my options, I went with a regional. Have an opportunity to fly a 737 at 1500 hr, but I decided to get a CJO at a regional instead. Young guys get flack for not doing homework and taking the “warnings” of the guys on property, but also get flack for choosing a regional instead of a 737 for the same reason the guys on property tell us to stay away. Y’all are a special kind of special huh?

Newsflash bud, I am a “young guy” too. What I wouldn’t do is give people advice or crow either way about something I’ve never done. You don’t have an ATP, so when it came to interviewing, you didn’t choose between Atlas/Southern and a regional. You took the only one of those options that “interviews” candidates prior to them being qualified. Congrats on your job, seriously, but you have NO idea what working at Southern or any other airline is really like.
With that said, Atlas/Southern works for some, but I knew it wouldn’t work for me and my family.
