Atlas Jumpseat Info
 

I work for NetJets and would like to know whether it is possible to Jumpseat on Atlas ?

Who should I contact to find out ? Any info that can be provided would be appreciated.

:(Unfortunately, I’m pretty sure that you can’t depending on the configuration of Atlas’ aircraft as I am pretty sure that NJA is not in the CASS System. As a former Jumpseat Coordinator for a 121 cargo carrier with B727 and B737 aircraft that had jumpseats outside the bulletproof cockpit door, I wrote one of the most liberal jumpseat policies in the post-911 CASS world and regularly welcomed any Part 135 pilot that had a Medical, a Commercial License, and and ID.

Unfortunately, we sank during the 2008 depression: It’s a recession if your neighbor gets laid off, but a depression when you do. I dream of a day where 135 pilots are welcomed on jumpseats, but I’m not holding my breath.

Some Atlas folks will chime in, I’m sure.

There are plenty of 135 operators in CASS nowadays.

It largely depends on JS agreements across carriers. I have no clue of the relationship between Atlas and Net Jets. It would surprise me that one exists given it would be pretty tough for a 121 pilot to catch a ride on Net Jets. Would the NJ airplane have to be empty? A lot of those planes don’t have Jumpseats. If I were a paying member of a fractional I would be annoyed if a random person was on my flight. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

You are right, Dera. I stand corrected as I remember Mountain Air, Key Lime, and other Part 135's etc. were on our CASS list.

Unfortunately, Netjets is 91K and cannot really reciprocate. We didn't care about this and regularly had Netjets, Flexjet, XOJET, Flight Options, etc. pilots on our flight attendant jumpseats outside the bulletproof cockpit door. We were just happy to help our fellow pilots, and it's funny that a lot of us ended up here in Part 135 and 91K when the music stopped.

In the early 2000's, I invited 2 Netjets pilots trying to start a reciprocal jumpseat program as my guests at the Annual Jumpseat Conference. I know that they were trying to get Netjets to publish the empty legs that they were repositioning between revenue flights, but I don't think that it went anywhere.

I don't know the Atlas B767 and B747 cockpit configurations, but if there is a secure cockpit door, I believe that you can carry non-CASS jumpseaters OUTSIDE the cockpit. I would be tearfully happy to see Netjets and other 91K pilots able to jumpseat on Atlas and elsewhere.

Either CASS or FAA form 8430-6 for non-employees. Different paperwork for Feds and other government employees.

Just a curtain on the 747, so either CASS or prior written approval from the DO.

Hey guys I'm looking at trying to jumpseat on Atlas tomorrow from ORD to LAX 5Y 5772 and had a few questions. It looks like I can make a listing on id90travel.com do I also need to fill out the form on the company website? What is the address where I would need to go to and how early before departure I would need to get there? If I don't make it do I need to cancel my reservation if so how? Thanks for the help!

Reading the Atlas jumpseat page “You may also list on ID90” I think you’re good. Or just do both. There’s no none Atlas person shown going to LAX as of now. If you don’t make it no big deal.
