Moot and mute are two different words. Unless you intend to dictate the choice of word, then no one is forced to use "moot."
A more poetic use of "mute" makes an accurate point, though it may be lost on the intellectually strapped.

Thank you for the lesson Mr. Chief Intellectual of APC. On the other hand, if you google the term “mute point” there is a mountain of commentary on this issue that would disagree with you. I’m sure none of these language enthusiasts approach your knowledge of English. I did see some support for your opinion cited in the “Urban Dictionary”, which, may as well be called “How to Butcher the English Language.”

The only people who use mute point rather than moot point don’t know a plug for trumpet from a time to stop talking. Just saying.
