Depends on the intent of the word.

Mute point is a silent point without voice.

Nice try. Coefficient is correct here. This error saying “mute point” when actually meaning “moot point” is very common. Drives the grammar police nuts.

Heh heh! Glad you took it the way intended. I was trying to think of something nice and douchey, and 'mainline capabilities' seemed to fit the bill.

It wasn't a try.

Moot and mute are two different words. Unless you intend to dictate the choice of word, then no one is forced to use "moot."

A more poetic use of "mute" makes an accurate point, though it may be lost on the intellectually strapped.

Thank you for the lesson Mr. Chief Intellectual of APC. On the other hand, if you google the term “mute point” there is a mountain of commentary on this issue that would disagree with you. I’m sure none of these language enthusiasts approach your knowledge of English. I did see some support for your opinion cited in the “Urban Dictionary”, which, may as well be called “How to Butcher the English Language.”

The only people who use mute point rather than moot point don’t know a plug for trumpet from a time to stop talking. Just saying.
