I’m seeing a number of DHL Logistics plain white trucks and trailers going into Amazon fulfillment centers. When this is said and done. DHL will have a full air and ground presence in North America again thru Amazon. Amazon will have an international network thru DHL.

I’ve heard rumors Amazon will be operating their own feeder airline, anyone else? I have no idea if they’d make money at that, but something to do with their Long-term goal of one day delivery on everything. I believe the “last mile” won’t be anything like UPS or Fed ex. Similar to UBER, where a bunch of contracting drivers deliver packages close to where they live. My guess is they probably won’t even have trucks, use the back of the Toyota Corolla, just like the pizza guy. Bunch of 737s going to mini hubs, similar to what UPS is doing with Ameriflight.

I'm sure that'll be a solid model. The demand for air freight is going up at the same time though. It has been for a while... He's gonna find he can't staff that with the wages he's paying, the retirement he doesn't pay, and the miserable QOL.

Amazon has done this to many industry’s already.

Amazon won't do on their own anything that they can farm out for a reasonable price.

They have already gone that route. Quality control has proven to be a problem, with a good number of complaints about packages thrown willy-nilly into driveways and over/through/near/anywhere-but-on front porches, etc., and, if I remember correctly, lawsuits from some of those contractors claiming ridiculous delivery schedules that allowed no time for breaks. For several months, Amazon has been promoting a sponsored delivery service in which they will help you get up and running in your own delivery business. They're promoting it internally now to Amazon employees, offering $10k to employees who will quit Amazon and set up one of those services.

My no-cents worth input: There it is - taking over the world one employee/customer at a time. Farming out connective tissue business is what their all about. Bezos doesn’t take prisoners and doesn’t do unions. Those 20,000 additional vans are rolling hard. It seems no other e-commerce service / logistics company (not even country subsidized) can or has yet to slam/match such huge investments into its infrastructure in such a short amount of time. The overseas competitors will react no doubt within their own regions while Amazon strives for its 2 hour order to delivery status stateside. Fair warning for others to update their service/system/infrastructure to remain relevant/competitive as the almighty $ runs the show... Even if others do spring up or even the old timers might just be bought out and assimilated to the new world order. Ruined yes, continuing to be ruined even more so.

Personally it’s like AI investment as the most lucrative motive in most industry-automation, trucks, manufacturing, ship movement and soon but not too fast perhaps air cargo movement and eventually travel.

They are so preoccupied on whether they could they didn’t stop to think on whether they should.

Looks like regional air hubs are already starting. This airport is dead center between MCO and TPA. Can service both markets from one airport. There is already an Amazon fulfillment center there. Things are moving fast. The industry is changing.

But some pilots are still dumb enough to show up for new hire class at Atlas and ABX even though there is no contract in sight for either carrier.

The big Amazon logo seems so appealing to some. Funny though that changes after a few 4 hour sits at 4 am and 5 years with out a new contract.

I’ve done a few of these sub-hub sorts. Any chance we’ll get a rest facility on site someday? I’m getting pretty good a sleeping in the plane for 2-3 hours.
