That's the one hundredth time that inane question has been asked so you win the "redundant question of the year" award for being (hopefully) the last person to come up with this sly retort!!

You come to the Atlas / Southern threads and ask for opinions about working here and then post snippy remarks to the folks who take the time to give you their honest feelings about our current state of affairs.

If you don't like what Atlas/Southern pilots say here, why are you still reading this thread? Why not just leave?

You guys at Southern/Atlas should write a book on how to make a fellow pilot feel welcome. For some of us these fly by night cargo operations work in our life style bad marriage sick of 4 sectors a day on a Airbus for the last 12 years not everything is money. Why not Fedex UPS oh because I haven’t gotten a call that’s why.

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.

Just as you could tell prospective candidates to the airline you work for to beware of what it's really like, that is what people are doing here.

Why not Fedex UPS oh because I haven’t gotten a call that’s why.
And neither have we quite obviously, otherwise we wouldn't be here trying to ward people off from the abuse of possibly the most contentious management group in aviation.

You seem like an intelligent person. I hope this post is out of ignorance and not reflective of how you have gone about compiling information regarding AAWW. Have you ever thought of PM’ing a pilot who doesn’t put the company down as much? Also PM pilots who do, and have an honest conversation with them. Phone calls would work best.

I would bet that very few, if any, of the caustic remarks you read on here are written by true jerks. They are written by rightfully very frustrated individuals who at their core, are professional pilots and probably good people.

You may find after you investigate that you will steer a wide path around AAWW or, perhaps given your situation, decide it is worth the risk. Do your homework before coming on here and bashing pilots who are working under the most frustrating conditions that they have experienced in their careers.

Great post. AAWW can work for some but most I talk to have better options to...

Default New hire still in training for 737 Southern

I was told you get paid highest of all trip rig/ Min / actual flow. I was able to see actual bid packed and most of the lines had min 63 hrs trip rig!! So why would any new line holder make less than 63 hrs + per?

IF you get a whopping 63 hours to work 17 days. You get 63 hours.

We have 3 737-800s. I’m hearing the 737 program is being scraped due to lack of crews, thus triggering the furlough we have all been hearing. Mgmt is apparently attempting to outcource the 737 program.

Mgmt will furlough, and outcource the flying before they pay us more.

Come see for yourself.

According to the rumor, does the program that is being "scrapped" include the 6 737-400s that have been flying for DHL for a couple of years?

While anything is of course possible, I am unclear as to why and/or how Amazon would permit Southern to "outsource" the 737-800 flying. The aircraft are leased by Amazon from GECAS, and are being placed with Southern only for the purpose of operating them. In other words, AAWW only gets the CMI component. Amazon has no need for a middleman in the form of Southern if the actual flying is to be performed by some other carrier; Amazon could just terminate the CMI contracts for convenience and shift the flying to another carrier. (The only wrinkle might be the regulatory reasons for the capital investment by Amazon in AAWW; otherwise this idea makes no sense. Of course, Southern could outsource the 737-400s and use its pilots to fly the 737-800 program -- but they would then still need more pilots down the road.)

Easy lots of times people get awarded lines up to even 83 but there’s no line guarantee so it’s what you end up flying or rigging or min. Going from 78 to 50 can and does happen via schedule change, sick call, training, home reserve, what ever. nothing but 50 for a new hire is ever guaranteed.

From what I’ve been told. The DHL 737s have been around forever. It’s the new amazon contract. There 2 airplanes sitting in VQQ right now - ready to go. But Atlas can’t staff it. The 3 birds flying right now are suffering from delays according to the flight track software “ crew delays, crew scheduling, and delay yet to be determined”

It’s clear to Amazon we have labor issues, a crash, and massive delays- we are unable to fly the 3 we have on time - let alone 20.
