So these new hires had PIC time and that's why wide body/narrow body makes no difference? Or just lots of time and good knowledge in general?

Jeff90 asked about widebody vs. PIC time to get hired at UPS or FedEx. 3pointlanding said do some research.

I'll help you all out a bit here: Both UPS and FedEx require (prefer, but really it's require) 1000 PIC as a minimum.

Nowhere are there requirements for wide body time at any carrier.

How ironic, I was deadheading last week and met a PSA FO that was leaving for ATLAS.

Amazing that anyone still thinks “widebody” time has any value whatsoever. How do people think all these regional pilots get hired at the majors?

Probably a big mistake if they lack any TPIC. It’ll be years before they’re anywhere near 1000 hrs of that.

Personally I think having time on a Boeing does help, but it means zero if you've got 999.9 hours or less of PIC.

Heavy Type, 1000 PIC > RJ Type, 1000 PIC

Either way, don’t go to an ACMI with under 1000 PIC. If something were to cause hiring to slow down and become much more competitive, who would you hire? Saying a heavy type and experience is not helpful, is pretty dumb in my opinion.

Latest scope negotiations were supposed to last two days, but the company only showed for 4 hours. The executives demanded no scope language that would hinder fragmentation of Atlas/Southern or any dry leasing plans. In other words, farming out airplanes without the pilots. A blank check to repeat the Stanstead Atlas Air Crew Services offshoring scheme of ten years ago; Transfer flying and hire lower paid European pilots, give them super seniority for upgrades and get the ability to downgrade and furlough Atlas/Southern pilots simultaneously. Think about that as you’re signing the application. Scope was one of the few articles that went to arbitration during the Atlas/Polar merger. Your journey towards 1000 TPIC here may come to a sudden end after the arbitrator hands us our next JCBA.
