I don't think we're going to learn anything. We haven't made any significant changes since the crash, and we're taking walk-in 737 interviews. We keep making announcements of one kind or another that we are committed to safety.
Other airlines crash, like when United ran a DC-8 out of gas. The difference is that they change and adapt after killing people. United became an industry-leader in CRM. Eagle moved ATRs out of the Great Lakes. What are we doing?
We should be embarassed. We deserve to take all the sh-t people want to sling at us until we get our act together.

I disagree about not learning from this accident. But the thing is, we just have to wait for the final report to be published and stop armchair quarterbacking. The different rumors I’ve heard about this accident frustrates me. Wait until the facts are laid out via the people actually investigating, then learn from it. I guarantee there will be lessons learned.
With regard to accident responses, generally responses occur before final reports are published. We can cite a number of accidents where this occurred. I agree rumors on APC and PPRUNE are bunk. That said other sources of information, say from our personnel that were party to the investigation, are already available to generate initial corrections. We're doing nothing.
Learning implies that we modify our behavior based on new information. I don't see us changing out behavior. We haven't learned. I doubt we will learn.
I hope I'm wrong. If I'm right, change is required. Change requires pressure. Ridicule isn't the way I'd apply pressure, but it is pressure none-the-less. I hope the embarrassment and ridicule we get eventually generates some kind or result. We need results.

I also hope I'm just looking at this through the wrong lens. I'd love to discover that I'm ridiculously pessimistic, or that I haven't evaluated the data in front of me properly. I'd be a happier pilot if I knew I was wrong about this stuff.

While we give away the 767 due to gross mismanagement, we are also parking and giving away 777's!
You just don't see the big picture like Atlas Execs. We are going to shrink our way to HUGE profits!
The 737 is the future of Atlas.
