clear the air....

first of all, robert duvall is a better cowboy than he is a surfer, but he is primo!
it would appear that joe hete and abx will sit on the offer for a while and decide if they will counter it with a bid for astar. that is a hoot! neither company has settled a new contract with their pilot union, that should be an indication of some direction.:( then there is the symbiotic relationship between polar/atlas and dhl, how that fits into all of this and the airpark that dhl owns, wilmington.
dasburg's offer just publicly sets the stage for what the germans, dhl, have been desiring from the beginning: getting rid of joe hete. they like the performance of the airline but can't stand dealing with him. this just gets better and better.
and here i was beginning to get depressed because there were only reruns on television! this is better than a tom cruise b1tch fight!

fly safe brothers......

100% on the Duvall statement.

I've seen the "ABX is considering buying AStar" comment somewhere else as well I think. Just curious if yall have any evidence to indicate that. Not saying they're not, just haven't see any intel that suggests it.

abx counter offer...

can't give you any concrete evidence, just more wishful thinking from pilot lounge lizards. company has plenty of cash reserves, though. it also plays into joe hete's ego.
of course, the senior citizens within the abx union are circling the wagons and protecting their own, throwing the junior guys out with the bath water. :mad:
all this talk has made me thirsty, i think i'll go to the jet lag club tonight and have a havana club or two. just to ponder my future and get my strength up for verbal battles to come within my local.
keep the faith and don't sleep on the airplane like the continental pilots have told to do.....(no hotel rooms at a divert...:eek:)

What do you base this reference on. We stooped open time last month. Something that never happened under our "senior citizens" controlled union of the past. We brought back the 10 hostages, (yes there are still some guys from the previous administration on the streets). So what is your rational that our senior guys are protecting their own?

Amen to that......... wonder how this might affect safety, go/no go decision.......diversion decision, amount of fuel to tanker so you can hold to get into your destination and your "room", on and on. I can read the NTSB report now, crew had to sleep on plane as secondary cause....

who is naive?

greetings;
let us not kid ourselves, we did not accomplish much in june. the prostitutes of abx are still there and came out in july versus june. not all 10 of the furloughees are coming back in july. what do you say to that? "it isn't my fault if they choose not to come back?" buulsh1t!!!!! if they hadn't been furloughed they wouldn't make such a horrible decision. shameless!!!!! our current union leaders are there by default, no one voted them into power, but at least they have more cojones than previous administrations. wake up box hauler, stop bidding opf and tell all of your abx friend to do the same. otherwise, be quiet and let the SILENT MAJORITY move in and decide what is best for our union!:mad:

penguin;
get over yourself, june was not an indication of the big picture. july really shows what is happening with open flying and who is greedy. (everybody.) it's like the carl cross syndrome, whoever is senior gets the open flying and whatever is leftover, gets the rest.

I guess you’d like box hauler to stop bidding opf so you can get more for yourself.

BTW, Ken, here’s your open flying award. Thats 6 days right there -- not bad!

How little you know. I am trying to have an honest discussion of the possible issue coming up. As for my OPF bidding the last trip I bid was over 2 years ago during Xmas. It was a red dog flight. As for me personally it is not worth my time to be gone for a day and dead on my feet the next day for a lousy 4.5 hours. My lifestyle is based on BASE PAY. I do not sell back vacation. I like my time off. Flying on a day off will require more than the 4.5 hours less taxes, they are paying. My pay stub in blank for the open time slot how is your.........

Without attacking your OPF flying habits I can have an open discussion about the issues that will affect us all. I do agree the union was a joke when run by Robby. I do not know him personally but as a union leader I believe he let the membership down. He did a great service for the senior pilots but the first furlough happened on his watch, with no response from the union. At least the current e board stood up for the "little guy" and got them back unlike the previous group. It would have been better if the e-board could have stopped the furlough the day they announced it but that would have required a sit down with Hete and some threats / job actions that day. Which by the way I was and am still all for. Treat this management team like 5 year olds. Warn them once and then lower the boom.

The very bottom guys are definitely getting hosed but unfortunately that is the nature of this industry when it is run by the current CEO's in the airline sector.

recce hellcat 07-01-2007 06:27 PM

box; my humble apologies. your analysis of our e-boards is sound and worth mention.
i have also heard rumors that some want robby boyd to "head up" a merger committee and determine strategies or options for our union. not sure the value of that....
