Roll call for UPS May 16

Hey all, just doing a roll call for class next week. Seeing if anyone has gotten an official domicile/aircraft assignment or if we are all still waiting? This is the only info that I know so far:

2 DC8 fo
4 757
4 757Z
?? MD11 ANC
?? Total in the class

I know that previous classes didn't get to choose but does anyone know what they are in yet?

My pref is MD11 ANC
38 (in case it matters)

Still on the fence as to driving in or flying

See you all next week! :D:D

If you look at your UPS app, it may have a domicile listed at the top. Mine says Anchorage. See you next week.

Biggs 05-09-2007 11:45 AM

Nothing on my board

can you be more speicific, I didn't see anything. going on the 16, age 36, pref: 75Z, Md11 in that order

CactusCrew 05-09-2007 03:01 PM

Fwiw ...

Some from my class, knew what to expect from the conditional offer from HR, myself included ...

At the very least, there will be a notebook on the table with an aircraft picture on it placed at your name tag ... ;)

In other words, at the very worst, you will know on the first day when you show up what UPS has planned for you !

Rocco 05-09-2007 04:20 PM

See you there.....

Congrats guys/gals,

Welcome aboard. This is really a great job and all of us are lucky to say we are UPSers.

See ya,
Fish

Biggs' question

Biggs,
Log into your UPS app online. The next screen after you enter your password says "Welcome Biggs" at the top. On that page, under "applications," in the "location" block, may have a domicile. Mine says "ANCHORAGE CENTER/CUSTOMS GATEW
ANCHORAGE, AK"

Hope that helps.

This is a nice thread to read, what with all the crap going around the industry at this moment. So I just wanted to wish you guys the best at the start of your new careers with UPS. These are exciting times for you. Congratulations.

Biggs 05-10-2007 04:09 AM

Thanks Jet Jock

Its nice to hear someone with perpestive. The pax industry is a dying. It will never come back. Cargo at FedEx and UPS is the last haven of good paying jobs in the US. Even SWA will have its day. The american public only wants cheap tickets at any cost, and that cost is at the expense of all the highly trained perf. who work in the airline industry (mech, pilots, etc). I'm glad to get out after 4 pax airlines.

Biggs 05-10-2007 05:33 AM

Sleepy thanks

Looked mine up and nothing. Sleepy what are you currently flying? My requests were 75Z, MD-ANC then domestic. Background: currently flying C130(10yrs reserve), 737part 121, before that A318/19 and MD80, age 36. The HR people when they called said I was going International but there seems to me alot of folks with more international time then me, so I'm afraid I might get domestice, what do you think??

Luckydawg 05-10-2007 08:48 AM

Biggs,

I've got the same thing, no box indicating domicile. I remember in the last couple of classes the same information was available but only to the ANC MDs. So I think you still have a chance for one of the 757Z. Does anyone know the total number of ANC in this class?

Biggs 05-10-2007 09:32 AM

numbers

7 md11 to anc for total of 17

Biggs 05-10-2007 11:41 AM

Hey Lucky dog

What did you tell HR were your preferences.

"Log into your UPS app online. The next screen after you enter your password says "Welcome Biggs" at the top."

Wow, you applied with your APC screen name? ;)

Just kidding, welcome aboard folks, it's a great company and y'all like it here. If you get ONT by any chance, you'll like it even more - an awesome group of pilots there!

Biggs,
I've flown KC-135s for 9 yrs...U.S., Europe, mid-East, pacific/Asia. If you've flown much int'l, you'll probably get int'l.

FliFast 05-10-2007 01:12 PM

JetJok..nice posting.

Rocco, what the hell is that thing in your avatar...I thought the Shorts 330/360 was the ugliest airplane in the world.

Congrats to the new hires. As mentioned by JetJok, this is a crazy business but starting employment at UPS will be an exciting part of your career.

Best thing I could come up with. Put a big enough engine on anything and it will fly!!!!

I will try to find something better.....

I'm a herc driver, 10 years and 7 yrs part 121 in b737, a318/319, md80's, so I wont make the cut for ANC and after that sounds like the 75Z will be given out by age and i'm 36 so I don't think much chance to get one of the 4 z's

HR asked what my first choice would be and I replied the MD in ANC. The problem is that I don't have the heavy international so it looks like I might be getting something else. They didn't ask me my preferences beyond that so it'll be a surprise on Wednesday. Another question they asked was "what is your dream aircraft.." I paused for a bit and said it really didn't matter. I said that I had a few aircraft that I wished I would never fly again like the Jetstream 32. If I have a choice from here, I guess I would choose the 757Z, 757, DC8 in that order.

I'm flying my last trip in the Airbus tonight. It's been a good ride but I'm looking forward to a change.

Freight Dog 05-10-2007 08:53 PM

Enjoy your last trip, Luckydawg. Welcome to Brown.

a2b boxhaul 05-11-2007 12:39 AM

congrats to the newest brownies.
Haven't posted in a while laying low enjoying anchor town. Weathers been awsome so to all who get here, you'll enjoy it. BTW Thurs & Sun at Sullivans is a new hire 1/2 # angus burger for $4.50, don't get any drinks instead Go to Simon's first for $2.99 wine beer or rita all day long. Of course stop at Humpys for the best selection of cold brew on tap. Also, Fish your a** off next month. Should be a sweet summer. Until I go brown, swimming like an otter.
