The gentleman does not believe that he has the resume for UPS or FedEx. The other gentleman was suggesting that he may, in fact, have the qualifications to work at UPS or FedEx. Therefore, he should not sell himself short.

Thanks for the insight! I absolutely will apply everywhere, just trying not to get my hopes up. We’ve been saving up and minimizing expenses for the transition. 50k the first year would be doable. I can’t believe 200k is 2nd year pay, that’s unbelievable.

Believe it. I will break $200k this year at Brown, despite 2.5 months of 1st year pay. If you can start training on terminal leave it will make the transition even easier.

Default Cargo all the way.

THIS! Once you go cargo you will never look back, much more laid back and less stressful. No drama in the back.

Except a military guy won't have any experience to compare it to. If he goes cargo first, all his friends will drive him crazy to go to a major. Leaves a really good cargo job, discovers pax flying sucks, oh well!
In my mind, cargo is superior. Glad I did pax first.

As previous brown brother/sister posted 200k second year at brown or purple is easy. I have buddies in my new hire class (at purple) who took the upgrade 6 months ago on the 757 and they are over 300k on third year captain pay and that’s with only half the year as a 4 stripper.

..or UPS.
Pretty much every 74/MD class we have at Brown has former Atlas guys/gals in it. ..and that’s been going on for a long time.

Spectre186 - apply EVERYWHERE and let the recruiters at those airlines decide whether you’re competitive or not. Don’t do their job for them. You might be more competitive than you think.

Go to whichever major airline that hires you first. After a year or so ask yourself if this is the airline you want to retire from one day? If the answer is no, apply to the airline you really want to fly for.

Good luck to you and Thank You for your service.

Poor saps must be worn out and flying a lot of extra. They’re earning every penny in the 75.
Not sure how the math works on that but it makes a good story. Half a year at ~$245/hour with the other half as 3rd year FO with 2 months in the schoolhouse upgrading on pay only lines. 300k is quite a feat.

Well you've gotta count in the per diem, dead head tickets, hotel points, retirement contributions, ALPA travel discounts, free taxi rides, starbucks discount, 2 day shipping discount..... A W2 only tells half the story.
