The half of the story that includes per diem and the rest of that list is just someone trying to puff up the numbers.
Per diem is for spending on trips. Not counting as income.

Amen to that

Not sure how the math works on that but it makes a good story. Half a year at ~$245/hour with the other half as 3rd year FO with 2 months in the schoolhouse upgrading on pay only lines. 300k is quite a feat.
This comment above from an objective, non cheerleader Purple pilot! I always get a kick of people claiming they have a buddy who made XXX...

And the PD deal, some people will never get it!!

No doubt you were, I got your sarcasm :-)

Referring to the multiple other folks who regularly quote PD as income.

My question is, what are some decent cargo operators where I can realistically make 70-80k or more year one (if any)? Is something like Mountain Air Cargo worth it for the Purple Pathway program? ATI and K4 salaries look pretty good as well, but I’m not sure if I’d be competitive there either.

I appreciate any info and guidance.
I believe it has been said already. But I will **foot stomp** it again for you.

APPLY EVERYWHERE -- even passengers

Don't settle for a second rate cargo outfit because you want to ultimately fly cargo at UPS/FDX. Go fly for the best outfit that hires you until you get where you want to be. Also your chances of getting called by FedEx increases if you fly for the majors.

Do what others have done, use DAL/AA/UA/SWA as a stepping stone to UPS/FDX. You'll have better pay, working conditions, 401K, benefits and seniority should you never get called to UPS/FDX and have to stay put.

In my opinion, I think the FDX hiring department gets their kicks from stealing pilots from the majors. I routinely fly with pilots who left major carriers.

Does FDX/UPS care about T-45 time for mins?

I am a grey jet IP but don’t quite have 1,500 ME; T-45 time puts me over.

I was initially concerned about this as well. Both companies’ pilot requirements page reference requiring PIC Jet time (Doesn’t specify SE/ME) or if no jet time you need Multi-Turboprop. FedEx even counts some SE Turboprop as well now.

I’m not saying I like Viper pilots, but a career guy would have a tough time getting hired if they required ME Jet time.

My training partner as a new hire had nothing but single seat, single engine jet time. So long as you have your ATP you should be good.

They live in base and bid Reserve carryover. They then pickup and trade. Feel free to PM me and I can send you W2 screen shots they sent me as of the Nov 30 pay check.
