TransAir Hawaii
TransAir in Hawaii has lost half of its captains and half of its FO after putting one of their museum pieces in the drink. We all knew it was just a matter of time before they either killed somebody or got everyone violated. So they are currently in the process of trying to dupe more poor desperate pilots. Their APFC listing says a “family run company....island style...easy inter island flying”
schedule is 3 weeks on 1 week off every 4 weeks x 13 periods/year. Pay is 1.5x on your days off. Since they can’t keep people once their 26 months contract expires they are always short pilots. They recruit at PanAm flight academy in Miami since the CP is there half of the year. Can’t blame him though, he avoids the toxicity and back stabbing going on back in HNL. The managers that stay in HNL are
completely incompetent from the ramp manager all the way up to the top. Every week there are more lies about how they are trying to improve the company and things just keep getting worse.
“Family Run” well maybe a psychopathic dysfunctional family! Every day employees are threatened to work in unsafe conditions, without any proper training. Their idea of training is what they call “On the Job”....no class room, no standards but when you do something wrong then they’ll give you remedial training which is actually basic training that should have been given in the first place!!
If you dare stand up and say “this isn’t right” they will threaten to fire you, replace you or remove you from payroll! If you are willing to work Overtime you will get suspended even though there are dozens of employees that never call in sick, never show up but then get transferred to day shift (like that’s a punishment?) Many of the ramp workers leave to go work at fast food restaurants because they get paid more, don’t have to push thousands of pounds, don’t have to risk injury don’t get yelled at and at least get fed! Maybe that why they can only get non local people to work there. Everybody on the islands knows what a horrible place this is to work
Pilots get threatened by the Chief Pilot “do your ****ing job!” “We pay you good money to fly and not question us!” “There are 50 pilots that want your job!” Go ahead Mr Horibata, let’s call those poor SOB’s up RIGHT NOW! Let’s have a little discussion about Working for TransAir with any potential new VICTIMS!
Mechanics get threatened by the Cargo manager to ignore write ups, and get the planes flying. I understand this is a business but aviation is different than a Shish Kabob stand on the street corner.
Some how these delusional psychopaths (what else would you call people that abuse and attempt to kill people with zero remorse?) think they can lie their way to the FAA and be back in business soon. They are refusing to pay existing employees yet are hiring new suckers for a class in August. So if you’re in the August class good luck. I hope your life Insurance is paid up. And when the wool has been removed from your eyes, and you finally realize just what kind of deal you have made with the Devil, just keep telling yourself, “I’M FLYING IN HAWAII!”
