On the Atlas side 7.5 mil shares worth in those warrants expire May 4 2021. Amazon has to take control by then or they lose their investment. Atlas wants to have a profitable 2020 peak season and they can’t with unmotivated pilots who know their jobs are gone so look for The Big Announcement first qtr of 2021. Atlas like in the past four years will throw out some propaganda around Oct along the lines of “look for new progress on the CBA in qtr 1!” They’ll forget to mention it’ll be the opportunity to progress to Prime Air to start over. I wouldn’t expect preferential hiring though, Bezos doesn't want any union troublemakers on his ramp.

Nailed it.

If any of us were any good at predicting the future of our careers let alone the industry as a whole we wouldn't be working where we are. The fact is none of us know what the future holds. I'd plan on being resilient and avoid setting anyone up for a hope/despair roller coaster. Whatever happens the general pilot group is going to be surprised. I dont think there is any player in this mix that is providing us with unvarnished truth.

I don’t think we ever thought we’d be UPS pilots at Emery. And I think Menlo cane along after we were already shut down. At the time of the shutdown we were owned by CNF as a parent company. We may have thought we might merge with DHL, and there were always rumors of that, but not be future UPS pilots. I believe Emery and UPS formed their airlines in the same year (around 1988 or so), the difference being Emery never wanted an airline and did everything they could to divest themselves of one, including letting their maintenance get so bad they were “shut down” for it by the FAA (our contention in court anyway).

Thanks for the corrected history on Emery. I remember when I first started flying with the Vietnam era guys and they pretty much all said the same thing, circa 1966 guys had their choice of which major to work for and believe it or not most chose Eastern...over Delta or United. Aviation is a crazy drug and the future of any company you chose is as murky as the Mississippi River. The bottom line is the suits and their motives coupled with the business plan and economy dictates the outcome. I think the new model is an old recycled model. If and thats a big if Amazon decides to go in house, they will want to develop their own culture with their own people. If you want to know what the seniority list will be at your next job....take your current one and turn it upside down!

amazon has been poaching airline employees from UPS, we have 2 of them from contingency that are leaving. I had heard amazon offered them a 47% pay increase, a moving allowance and stock to move to CVG. also the one guy was saying during his interview he was told amazon wants to be moving 100% of their stuff within 3 years. all of them were contacted via LinkedIn and set up interviews.

They wanna move their stuff within 3 years?

That pretty much coincides with the expiration of the leases at Atlas in 2023.

Good luck everyone!

I think Amazon moving 100% of their volume via Prime Air in three years is...optimistic.

For those driving smiley-tailed airplanes, how are your payloads? I've heard they tend to be on the light side of both bulk and weight.

I don’t think the last half is going to be as “easy” as the first.
