FDX Disputed Pairings

my rant for today...

i had a j/seater the other night who was coming in to fly a trip..when i told him it was a DP he shrugged it off and said he didn't care...he was a union member and a 96er...then i talked to my buddy on the SIG and he said they all have about had it...all the work they do with DPs are going out the window with these idiots...so he said expect less deadheads and more out and backs(sucks to be a commuter)...and the out and backs will be 3-4 legs since these morons keep flying them.......peace..i'm outa here...

Thanks for calling the guy on it. Keep the pressure on. Hold people accountable.

Unfortunately, you will probably see more of this. Many people don't fly disputed pairing because they are not going to screw over the "team." I would say there are alot of folks that don't give a rat's a$$ about the team now. Not saying I will fly DPs (I don't and never have), but "the unity" of our union has been destroyed thanks to the current regime.

Maybe next time this Knuckle head is looking for a ride from fellow "teammate", my jumpseat might be broken!

Suggest we pick a target that is surgical and not nuke the whole neighborhood. I don't think our MEC listened very well. Some new blood might help. There might be a case for some new block reps or at least some very "come to Jesus" block meetings.

On the other hand--the SIG works for ALL of us...jr, senior, new hire, and in betweeen. Rolling over on this fight just plays right into the company hands. We may fight about positions on issues, but SAFETY is a driving concern of DPs. I'm irritated too--but we if start flying DPs we really are only hurting ourselves.

Personally--I like the idea of captains using their concern over fatigued crew members to deny JSs to those guys who will "need some extra rest" for flying those onerous pairings.

Being Pi$$ed is okay--but let's keep our focus. If you are upset with your MEC there are other ways to express that displeasure. Perhaps requainting a few of them with life on the line living out of suitcase if you please... That will be up to individual blocks. However...we owe the SIG our help. They aren't the villian here.

Agree with Albie. I really do think the union has to do a much better job of explaining to the new hires though. Can't do much to the pr!cks that are already out there other then making them feel like the a-holes they are. Plant the seed early (STS) and make sure every member knows what the deal is. It should be done off base at the social hr while all are stuffing there face with beer and appetizers. Just a thought.

I am not advocating flying DPs and I won't fly them. I am just saying that I think more people will not listen to the union after this last debacle. I realize the SIG has nothing to do with Age 60, but I think that this issue has caused bitterness between alot of us and the union. I think (just my opinion) that when people see email from the union they will just say F-em and delete...

First off, I whole heartedly support the SIG and what they are trying to do. I don't fly DP's because they $uck. :( But... Serious question here, cause I don't get it. How does leaving DP's for RSV guys to fly at a discount (4:30v6:00), disuade the construction of onerous pairings? Seems to me, we don't really have much leverage here that I can see. Why would the co give a rat's a$$ whether we pick them up out of open time or not. As a matter of fact, it's cheaper for them if they go to RSV. Now pardon me while I put on my flame retardant jammies.

come on...because if they are not flown by reserves for a set time then those types of trips can be put in the bidpack and cannot be disputed again... then the company can put similar trips in the bidpack which cannot be disputed..if only reserves fly them then they go away...geez
