new route for FedEx starts
#21
Talked to a friend of mine in Indy the other night who is currently an A-300 captain out of subic. I asked him if he was gonna bid HKG or if he knew what perchentage of the group was going to do an FDA. His answer was that proably no -one except a couple of people are going to bid the FDA HKG. For him he was just gonna bid back to memphis on the bus and most likely bid SIBA. Looks like it keeps stepping backwords for a while

I hear we'll be gambling on another great product soon, as well:

That works until the next bid and the 72 gets the "excess" treatment.

Yes, but the lines feel like they are already excessing. I can't imagine how bad the bid pack will look in 2008 let alone 2016. The Boeing has become the ad-hoc airplane of choice and the lines reflect this. Throw in the 'domestic solution' they have been screwing the Bus guys with, and schedules will get even worse.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and predict we are going to buy the Flying Tiger line. I think Fred is looking at Asia like it might have a strong potential one day. Actually, with NAFTA coming, I predict Asia will be puny compared the the hundreds of routes we'll have across South America. Heck--we probably will need a hub in Arizona, New Mexico, or Texas...and I'll bet it will be our busiest hub in few years.
Only bad deal is if we do buy FT, we are going to get stuck with some Seaboard dudes for a long, long time...
