I may be trying to be a bus driver on the next bid. Any current Bus drivers got encouraging/discouraging words on the current lines? Seems lots of stuff I used to enjoy doing is now on the bus, so I might need to move too.

How's the school? How's the life? Thought I was done with walk arounds but it may be time to bite the bullet....

MD-10 lines interest me but so many guys senior to me on the 727 have jumped or are in the process of jumping I think doing day/domestic will be tough. Lots of those same guys that bid that stuff are within a month of being MD-10/11 FOs....

FWIW...if I could "beam" myself over the seniority list I'd be about 65% right now on the lastest bid. So--anyone with opinions on the bus life...I'm listening....

Don't do it Albie. You'll hate yourself in the morning (and you'll feel all funky).

I'm slightly perplexed on the hiring thing though. How can he predict a 10-12 month lag? I recognize that we're fat, but 10-12 months fat? I'm trying to figure out who is going to fly all these airplanes that keep coming and are scheduled to come.

Anybody have any ideas on this? Posturing or the real scoop? Bean counter misdirection?

Glad to be here.

We must not be that fat. I have two ocean crossings next month and both RFO's are Captains.

DONT DO IT!!! Walkarounds are HORRIBLE!! Do you even know how to work an APLC much less an FMS and ACARS?? It's a ton of work........If I was in your shoes I'd stay in the right seat of that Boeing!

Bonus per Pilot
--------- DOS---6/1/2007----Total
WBCAP $14,000 - $16,000 -- $30,000
NBCAP $12,000-- $14,000 -- $26,500
Just went back to check my LES and the DOS NBCAP payment was $12500...now the math works.

That's a lot for a "junior varsity" NB Capt ... I think they should have received less and the VARSITY received more. Same with hourly rates also ... but if we cut the NB (over 10 year) engineer pay I bet a bunch of the OVER 60 guys would go away. We could use the money to give NB s/o a raise in years 1-5.

No ... I'm not serious

Fedexbusboy,
If you have 10 R-days in a row, and your 3 days of recurrent training end up in the middle of your R-days, all 10 R-days get dropped, and you have to do make up if you want to get paid in that month. That sucks a lot of trips out of open time. It used to be that you only dropped the R-days in conflict and the days on either end weren't very efficient for crew skeds.

Yeah, but you have one less guy on reserve. 6 in 1/2 dozen the other. or somthing like that. You are now picking up trips during the view/add that you would have been assigned on reserve before.

What really helps them (and us) is the removal of the 48 open time blackout. Before, if you wanted one of those trips, you had to roll the dice with a general make-up, now we can see these trips, some very cherry, and pick them up. The result is low reserve utilization and almost no VLT or Draft.
