Make post to direct back to a current post you started previous .... appears that you are trolling.

We have a good group of guys here. We are K2 pilots, all of us. We are in the process of merging fleets that all previously had separate deals as far as pay, duty, etc.
If you want to talk constructively or to make a recommendation, something that will help our group, please do. But if you want to spread hatred and divisiveness, then please do it elsewhere.
I will do whatever I can to help ANY k2 pilot no matter the equipment, but these rants over teamsters vs our new process are simply not productive. I'm not taking sides, but we must all move forward. There are as I understand 2 727 and 2 737 representatives who are trying to get us where we want to go.

No, YIP based. But most operations are CVG or MIA. During my time there, don’t know of anyone who sat in YIP. Even so, hotel is provided in YIP. YIP is close enough to DTW that most YIP hotels, including the Marriott brand hotel used by the company, have DTW shuttles. It is like a 10-15 minute drive at most. You are responsible to get yourself to me from YIP, then the company has to provide transportation to where they need you. Most guys jumpseat directly to CVG or MIA. But if you go to YIP, they usually provide you a car to drive to CVG, and use your company credit card for gas. You also may end up spending time up in Oscoda doing Maintence flights.

How many NG’s, and do you hit the road the first day on and return the last or do they wait until you have a trip assignment to send you to CVG/MIA? What hotels are they using? How many nights are you typically away from base?

A bit dated since I have been gone since last summer. But most operations were out of CVG for DHL, with one airplane doing IBC flying out of Miami to the DR and Haiti. Typically you’d know when the bid came out which flying you’d be doing, either CVG, MIA, or Ad-Hoc. Most Ad-Hoc guys ended up in CVG and doing DHL stuff. Homewood Suites was used in both CVG and MIA. If you ended up in YIP, it was a Marriott brand suite hotel (can’t remember the name, but it was nice). Layovers were typically Hilton brand, with the exception of MCI, which was a Drury Inn. You can plan on being at CVG or MIA for the entire 13 days. You are only responsible to get yourself to YIP, then the company would provide transportation to wherever they need you. If it was CVG, you’d usually get a company car to drive down (gas and required travel expenses would go on your company issued credit card). However most guys would get themselves directly to CVG or MIA. Some guys strictly did CVG stuff and even had cars there. On occasion,
some guys would end up in Oscoda to do MX and ferry flights. I never got the pleasure, but apparently the hotel and surrounding area leaves a lot to be desired, especially in the winter.

EDIT- I should also add that you keep all hotel points and airline miles. Don’t know if they are still doing it, but they would book the CVG hotel for all 13 days, and then you’d also get the layover hotels. So each work cycle you could end up with being credited for 20 nights. So the points and status grow very fast. Two months after starting, I had diamond status with Hilton and left K2 with almost a million points in less than a year (be sure to take advantage of all the extra point promotions they do).

So are the “company condos” at YIP referenced in previous threads no longer a thing? I’m having flashbacks to the greasy, dusty Amflight freight-dog warrens at outstations like EKA and VIS… fond memories, to be sure, but not ones that I’m eager to re-live. Interested in making the jump to K2 to get experience in the 121 freight world before moving on to K4 or another large intl carrier down the road, just want to make sure I know what I’m getting into…. What’s the verdict, decent place to spend a year or two?
