ALPA FDX (Part II)

You're twisting what happened then, and you're twisting what I said now.
The Union didn't say they didn't have a responsibility to explain the contract -- they said they wouldn't be publishing a "Reader's Digest Condensed Version" of it, as that process caused more headaches than it solved the first time around. I don't think it's asking us too much to read the contract.
My response to JollyF15 was to turn his question around on him, using a different poll question. Citing the question about ALPA involvement if the change is inevitable, I asked if ALPA should ignore that majority. Either way they go, someone can use a statistic from the poll of FedEx pilots and accuse them of ignoring a majority. Get it?

That poll like a lot they run is used to justify what they do, not to get the pulse of the crewforce.......YOU KNOW WHAT THAT POLL SAID, AND THE MEC IGNORED IT .....PERIOD.

62%.........
Lies, damn lies, and statistics.

I would have preferred if the union leadership would have simply said, "suck it up were going to do it this way until you kick me/us out." If you are going to lead then lead. Don't hide behind the skirt of a poll question that at the time of its polling represented particularly leading presuppositions. I don't think there would have been 62% of the pilots who would have voted in the affirmative if they had known "be a part of the process" meant "Flip-Flop on the Age 60 issue." It is disingenuous to wave this poll figure as a mandate.

Tony,
I keep hearing that Age 65 is inevitable. Can you tell me that in any legislation is inevitable these days? These guys can't pass dick.
So please tell me how/what ALPA is going to shape for us? The only thing I see is to let the engineers come back to the left seat. Gee ****in thanks.
If ALPA asked you "if you wanted first aid if were bleeding to death," what would you say? It's a very loaded question and you have to believe the first assumption, and as I believe, anything going through Congress is far from a slam dunk.
And please tell me wise one, what would you have ALPA do to influence the legislation? Just what are they going to accomplish?
ALPA knew this was a divisive issue. This was the easiest stance to take. "External forces" caused it. We did our best. So now we think if we change our mind that everyone is going to listen to us? The logic is ridiculous.
We know what we wanted (at Fedex) and these guys screwed us. It is time for them to go. What were the results? Do we think it unsafe?

My BS flag was raised when at the Prater Road Show..
DW just kept standing by his position that he wished that "ALPA would have never done that friggin poll.."
Why??? Because he never intended to represent the majority!
