GT 3591 and Atlas Managment

Not sure how CRM comes to play when the right seater puts AC into an unusual attitude and you cannot physically get control from him. The right seater locked up, left seater obviously startled. My guess is the best CRM, calming commands, etc could not have caused the right seater to relinquish controls in a timely manner to recover.
basic airmanship is the problem here. This guy ever read “flying the wing”, watched a video on aerodynamics, read airplane flying handbook, paid attention to retain stuff during recurrent etc?
thinking you are stalled while floating negative G at 300 knots and climbing with the massive air rush is the issue here. How do you teach basic situational all awareness?...you can’t.
The history here is a guy busy making excuses why others were to blame for his shortcomings. The guy in the right seat was so incompetent that it’s not different than an unrecoverable massive flight control malfunction at that low of an altitude.
sadly the days of guys like Al Haynes and crew are long gone.
The processes that caused this guy to leave other places worked. The process that caused him to get hired into Atlas failed.

The FO deliberately buried previous resignation for cause and training downs to secure a job for which he was clearly unfit. Sailed blithely past numerous Co unsatisfactory events only to stiff arm dump a 767 into Houston Bay just short of the populated area? CRM? That's like saying John Dillinger was discourteous to bank tellers.

It doesn't matter how he was hired. It was Atlas instructor who recommended him for checkride, it was Atlas checkairman who gave him his type rating, it was Atlas checkairman who passed his initial line check and it was Atlas checkairman who passed his recurrent PC. How did he keep passing these checks? But no one here seem to faults the Atlas training department.

I’ve never felt ignored when the individual in the left seat got a line check.

Of course by the time he went to Mesa he may have been seeing an RJ training program for the 3rd or 4rth time with extra training involved in all of those courses"
Don't worry I'm sure he had a brutal phone interview consisting of TWO questions no in person interview 25 sims and 120 hours of IOE to get him through and he probably thought that was normal compared to the flight engineer days were you get 8 sims or your fired.

Conrad's final words
There's no denying that Mr. Conrad Aska made a fatal mistake. But, let's not over look his final words "Lord, you have my soul!” This statement is a strong indication on where he's spending eternity. His life has just begun! Absent from the Body, Present with the Lord!

Doesn't take long for the fangs to come out does it!
He screwed up.. that we know. He also submitted his self to the Lord. Don’t confuse the two! We all suffer consequences of our actions. All we can do is grow in them and ask for forgiveness. Some times we don't get a mulligan.
For the ones angery at the “boogie man” in the sky.. ask yourself, why does it bother you someone invokes the name of the Lord?
