Working the Ramp
I one day hope to live and work in the United States. fedex is about as good as they come. I was just wondering if working the ramp for fedex would help in any way to get on with fedex in the future. Got a job offer to work the ramp for fedex in yyc(by far best starting ramp pay, $18) only problem is its only like 5 hours a day which fits in good once i go back to university but i want as many hours as I can now, which I have working for ATS.
So I was just wondering if working for fedex now would help me in anyway in the future as a pilot? |

Working for the ramp in YYC won't benefit you in terms of getting a pilot interview, as that's not FedEx Express. If you were working in the US for FedEx Express, that would put you at an advantage. I would think better priorities for now would be to earn money, finish college, and get flying experience. And, as frozenboxhauler mentioned, you'll need five years of residence in the U.S.

are there any "Express" folks workin the ramp at a station or hub outside of the U.S.?

Are you sure? Don't the people that unload our airplanes work for FedEx Express? I know the people that fly the Canadian airplanes don't work for us. But, I think the ramp people do.
