Thanks for the information though. Great post.

And we at World struck in Feb of this year for one week - but only for the non-military flying.

A few questions, little off subject but do all cargo airlines pay for you to airline to your base or starting point? I ask because I heard Southern Air makes you pay for your own commute, I though that was kind of crazy. Also, do Polar/Atlas or others make you start a trip anywhere other than your base? I hear that many cargo flights are subject to cancellations more often than the airlines, how does that work in terms of your scheduling?

Most cargo carriers are like other airlines in that you commute to your base to start work ( or live there) They will then get you a ticket to start the trip sequence if it is somewhere else. Kalitta will will typically buy a ticket from your house, though you meay need to leave a day earlier. Not sure how Southern operates.

furloughs in the horizon at Polar and then probably more furloughs at the combine company after the merger. If Polar does not furlough before the merger ( if the 2 grievances are won) then the combine company will furlough as they park 200's and won't be getting new airpanes until 07.

You need to do a bit more "due diligence".

Default Atlas Bases

From several posts back on this thread:

It all depends on your base. MIA is all Standby. ANC is mostly short trips, starting and ending in ANC. JFK is a lot like Polar, few start there. STN is a differant animal that I know little about. Most guys get long trips, or tie multiple trips together to cut down on commute. When it comes to using your four days off, I have only had 4 taken this year, others a lot more.

What's the intel on the LAX base? Just gathering info while waiting in the pool.

(1c) Upgrade to Captain. DOH and seniority rule all. If, after 5 years as a Polar F/O, you upgrade to Captain, your monthly pay will be 5 year Captain pay, not 1year pay like at some other airlines. You slide across to the Captain's list based upon your DOH/seniority number. You do not go to the bottom of list. Captain pay will start next day after completion of Captain IOE.

what planet does this occur, ofcourse you go to CA with you seniority and the pay goes at the year to upgrade, never heard this before.

Apparently, Virgin America does it on the planet Earth. Heard of a couple Martian airlines that do too, but can't remember their names.
