Historically UPS doesn't buy other airlines, they buy assets of airlines. Challenge Air route structure in South America and Menlo LTL, as examples, neither involved hard assets or people in the purchase. They do buy entire ground distribution companies, Overnite Freight and foreign companies that they have established an ownership position prior to taking them over completely.
If you want to work for UPS plan on being hired directly , getting to UPS via an aquisition is a real long shot.

Actually, we move postal which could be considered another freight company. We also have military contracts/charters and prior to Menlo we did move stuff for forwarders, and the 757's we flew for Challenge ( flowers) prior to the purchase of the route structure. So we have moved other companies freight.

But with a market cap of 992 million UPS would have to cough up over a billion dollars for it, and I would think that UPS could find better uses for their money.
