If your passion is computer science that’s a no brainer, totally agree. All depends on the individual as cubicle living is a nightmare for many, but telecommuting is not. Does sound great as you might be able to dictate your work hours, just get the work done. I was a in cubicle hell once (not computer science/not my chili) and will never return Lord willing. Being home more is a big win, but a King Air falls short of Europe/Asia/Australia, etc. where I like to roam company provided during pre-CVD of course. (or All subjective as you can see.) Your path may vary.

With a good wife it’s a good life, much easier without young kids no doubt. While it has been great for me specifically, it’s not sunshine for everyone. Do your homework and may you work for the outfit which best fulfills your needs! Good luck to you and everyone.

But agreed with above, you got to have a good wife at home. I got small kids as well and we agree it’s all worth. Just “be” home when you are actually home. Enjoy the fruits of your labor.

A300 FO MEM
If I only fly my awarded schedule until I hit year two pay I will be right at $90k for my
first 12 months. That includes roughly 3.5 months of training pay at $4k per month.
Average 16 days free from duty per month since released from IOE. Commuter, although when I commute to/from MEM I leave late the night before a trip and get back early morning after so I have the majority of those days at home. I can hold pretty much all DHs now so I don’t commute to MEM often. Haven’t been to my crashpad in over 8 weeks. I’ve spent every weekend in 2022 at home except for 1 or 2.
Total block will probably be around 350 at the most for the year.
