Default Make-UP bidding for CIC (FDX)???

For the guys out there in the know...is there anywhere I can look to see how Make-up bidding for CIC is processed? There were some basic instructions when it was open...

1. You can only bid 6 trips per entry (line)...

Some of the trips on my first line went to Senior guys...some whent to junior guys...I only received 40 hours of the 85 I need and about 9 of the trip I put in for are still unasigned?

I don't know if I needed to enter more than 10 lines worth of trip or how the trips were assigned...any help would be great.

BWP...out

If you put multiple trips on the same line I think you have to be able to hold them all via seniority, CBA and legally (FAR's). If one of the trips on that line is not available for any reason I believe the whole "bid" is denied. Are the trips you were awarded all from the same line entries on your CIC Bid ? This could explain why junior guys got some of the trips, otherwise you need to check if you could have been legally assigned what you bid.

I bid for a CIC trip for the first time this month under the new rules, so I am not an expert on the subject.

That is what killed you. I can't remember the exact verbiage (and you can't view the rules outside the "view/add" window ), but if any of the trips in your first line weren't available (and they weren't since they had already been assigned to a more senior guy) then the whole line is invalid.

The new system seems to work pretty well for a guy who has only a couple of days to make up due to trip loss, but it doesn't seem to cut it when someone loses their entire schedule.

Hopefully scheduling will fill in with R-days to make up for your lost hours, but I can't find anything in the contract to say if that will (or will not) be the case. I'd call scheduling and the union to see what your options are.

Good luck,

Z

If you lost your line due to a training conflict, I think it is up to you to fill your own line. I know it is a pain, but you can make a ton of bids to make sure you get some stuff you want.

I believe it works like this: If you put 6 trips per line the system will work through that line in order to see if it can award you a trip. If it finds one it jumps to line 2 and does the same thing over again. Same again for line 3 etc etc. So if you really want 3 specific trips you cannot put them all on the same line. Like others have said it works great for making up a few hours but to build a whole month requires too many brain cells to work the system unless of course you are number 1.
