It might not be that hard, but in the past few months, I've come to dread watching the front enders attempting to get the thing to work. A few weeks ago I watched as a very, very senior captain, who had not a clue how to operate the GPS, constantly screw his up and then in turn the F/O's. What a joke. I'd prefer that they take the damn things out, because some of these senior guys can't or won't learn how to use them. That's why they're still on the 72, instead of flying something more modern.

It's not the "old farts" that are not getting this. The majority of them have already move to glass jets. It's the mid-aged, hired when they were in puberty guys, who don't seem to be able to get a handle on something as basic as a GPS. Bet they still can't program their VCR/DVD/TIVO machines.

JJ, love you bro, but you're wrong. It's the old guys who slack. No disrespect.
Phlyer Ahhh, you guys are both profiling now. And trying to tie safety (read that as competency) into an age/generation bracket. We should not be doing that. Have you not read all the FAA/ALPA studies on the affects of aging on performance? Let me quote........dang, where did I put those things..........getting so forgetful these days....... |

At least you get to actually see someone screwing up the GPS. The only thing I've seen for the past four months is someone screwing up the cable TV at my crashpad in MEM~
