All I said to the poster is that you will not see the expat exemption to Uncle Sam. FedEx is going to use it in their calcs and I say again: You will pay the same taxes as you would have paid if you stayed in the US.
I did not discuss the merits of the tax equalization, or foreign country requirements. Maybe you should read a little closer instead of throwing spears because you do not like my position on other posts.

Did not make a single thing up, and not trying to bolster any case. I said "You will pay the same taxes as you would have paid if you stayed in the US. They get your expat credit, you pay no foreign tax."

There is no such thing as an expat credit. There is a foreign income exclusion. From the IRS website -
"If you are a U.S. citizen or a resident alien of the United States and you live abroad, you are taxed on your worldwide income. However, you may qualify to exclude from income up to $82,400 of your foreign earnings. In addition, you can exclude or deduct certain foreign housing amounts."
How does Fedex "get" that? Show me where Fedex "gets" anything from you or the Feds concerning this exclusion. That's not throwing spears, it's asking where you came up with the "facts" you posted.
Then you said "You will pay the same taxes as you would have paid if you stayed in the US."
Well duhh. That's the whole point of tax equalization. You don't pay the extra taxes you incur overseas. Unless you are in an area that does not charge you taxes, like the Subic area, you will almost surely pay more taxes at an FDA than if you were stateside, even using your exemption. (Think French taxes at 51%.) Fedex gives you that extra back. Therefore, Fedex is all for you getting your exclusion. Otherwise, your total taxes will include the taxes on that $82.4K, which fedex will have to reimburse. So, is it figured into your tax bill? Well, yeah.

Well, if you had, you wouldn't have provided the paragraph of explanation, as I did. You seem to think not having an increased tax burden is a bad thing.
You still haven't answered the question about your original post. How does fedex "get" your tax exclusion? I'm sure you have references, as you claim to have not pulled these facts out of thin air.

Submit Questions
Dudes, I just saw a link on the FedEx pilot site to submit questions about HKG/CDG.
Get all of your quality questions answered for free!
I would think that might open some eyes over there.
PS. I had a high level MEC member tell me via email that:
"We visited several private schools in China and the tuition was comparable to that of US schools. It is the same in France."
Yes direct quote. If you have done research on private schools in Paris, you will see that an English (not bi-lingual) school will run you at least $15000 per year per child. The high-brow school, American School in Paris, will swallow your entire year's earnings during the first year.

I think what he was saying was the 15,000/year is about average costs for the any of the Private schools in MEM. So if you can afford it in MEM, you probably can afford it in Paris or HKG, you just ain't gona live in a 4000 sq ft house on a golf course and have a Lexus and an Escalade in your driveway.
