Fdx Loa And New-hires
Just curiosity from a poolie. If I were to receive the call from KD (which I've been patiently waiting for for about 6 years)...
1) Will KD, or the person calling, make it clear to the new-hire where he/she is going to be based and which AC it will be in?
2) Once the poolie has received the call, and assuming he/she knows it's for an FDA, is it possible to say "yes, I still want to fly for FedEx, my dream airline, however I cannot go to HKG/CDG at this time, I'll wait for domestic domicile...". Would FDX say:
-this is your only opportunity, if you don't take it, you're out of the pool, thanks for playing
or,
- we'll keep you in the pool for a subsequent class date...
Thanks for your help.

I think you are getting a little ahead of yourself. This thing is far from settled. Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it for now. Who knows, the LOA might actually get 50+% of the vote. I doubt it, but you never know.
I believe the FDA deal needs to be settled then a system bid before any newhires join FDX. We are talking several months here, maybe 08 before this gets done.
Also, keep your eyes on current legislation. The hiring outlook is far more dependent on Age 60 than a HKG/CDG domicile.

I personally don't think there is any correlation at all between when the bid will come out and what happens on this LOA. The real issues still have to be resolved with the respective countries and I think that is what is holding up the establishment of the FDA. The bid will happen when we need more pilots, and we don't right now.
Age 60, as mentioned above, and plenty of other issues will determine when that need arises much more so than this LOA.
I don't think we should worry about the bid, we should try to protect our profession and our dignity and demand that the company compensate us for biting the bullet for them by accepting a position in HK or Paris. It is that simple to me. Unfortunately its going to be a tough sell because obviously our MEC doesn't even think we are worth more than 3K per month, so how will we convince the company.
Another great move by the boys with the mustaches.

As much as you would like to think that you have control over that possible outcome: The correct and only answer is NO
Your "Condition of Employment" would be with the understanding that you would be filling an FDA vacancy. Take the slot or decline the job, otherwise we will move onto the next applicant.
