That's funny. The first official word I heard about the where/what of the FDAs was the Commercial Appeal article! We all knew they were coming, but there were some pretty wild rumors about where they'd be. It also said something to the effect that it had been in negotiations for 6 months or so. So, the answer to that question would be "in the dark," right where we were left. I somehow doubt that the veil of secrecy put in place by the MEC was unintentional.

Fly the 11 into theater, pick up an MD-10, fly intra-theater, then home again on an 11. SVT and no education allowance are deal breakers for me. Thanks for the good post Albie.
I was told this almost verbatim from one of those multi domicile ACP's

Ditto for me, probably from the same guy.

My own impression is BC was quite smitten with getting the Hong Kong base instead of the much less desirable mainland base. Rather than complaining about the duty pay for the ground transportation, he was thrilled he "got" the company to agree to not base pilots on the mainland and then pay them for a some of the ground trip. BC has "personalized" this campaign a bit and I think he is shocked by the backlash--and feels insulted. (Again--I'm not commenting except to say this is MY impression based on what I heard tonight). I think he thought he could sell this on the "excitement" of living abroad and the modest allowances. Now that the backlash is exploding in front of him, he's trying to find any reason to say "its still a good deal". RLA and scope are the straws he's grasping.

Finally--if you are a union leader, and you are finding it harder and harder to deal with those you serve--perhaps its time to go back to the line and do that job you orginally loved so much. Union work is both voluntary and a service job. I grow weary of the "if you guys would do something instead of just throwing spears" whenever someone passes on legitimate complaints. Its hard to step up if those seats and committees are already full, so if the job is stressing you that much--move over. I'm sure there are some talented, service minded folks who will be glad to help as we move forward.
Thanks Albie!!!

It IS time for BC to leave the NC!!! He's lost touch with those he is supposedly there to represent. If he brings a POS to the pilot group and they tell him they don't like it, either FIX it or get the H*ll out. I'm not at all impressed with any of his work as the NC chairman. I hope he resigns over this but we probably won't be that lucky.

I just talked to someone who was also at that meeting and he had a far different opinion about the meeting than what I'm reading here. He felt that once BC got up there the room fell silent except for one junior guy who ended up walking out. He was swayed by BC. He was convinced that STV won't happen and that the Subic guys aren't going to come home. I asked him what if they are wrong and you do have to go?

His report concerns me, because I wonder how many others in the room felt the same way.

I think that we need to get the guys that are in the hub to organize a locker stuffing campaign. Maybe a couple of different letters. One on the cost of living impacts, one on tax impacts (especially if you have multiple sources of income), one on schooling and the big one to me: STV.
