LOA Road show, Town Hall, and Hub Turn Meeting Schedule

MEM Road Show

The MEC will be conducting a Road Show presentation on the FDA LOA on Saturday, July 21st at the Germantown Centre from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. (1801 Exeter Road, Germantown, TN 38138).

Please make plans to attend to have your questions answered regarding the LOA.

------------------------------------------

MEM Town Hall Meeting

In a continuing effort to address members' concerns regarding the MEC's action on Age 60, union leadership will be conducting an open town hall meeting on Saturday, August 11th at the Germantown Centre from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. (1801 Exeter Road, Germantown, TN 38138).

Many developments have occurred since ALPA's Executive Board decided to change the Age 60 policy. This will be an opportunity to have any remaining concerns or questions addressed regarding the repercussions of this change.

We encourage you and your families to attend. It will be very important as we move forward into the next negotiations to take the unity that served us so well as we obtained our last contract. The MEC does not believe that our chance for success next time will be as good if we allow an issue like this to divide us demographically. Please make every effort to join us in this open dialogue on this important issue.

------------------------------------------

Upcoming MEM Hub Turn Meetings
Members of the MEC will be conducting hub turn meetings on the following dates. Each meeting will begin at 12:30 a.m. on the respective Wednesday.

Tuesday night/Wednesday morning - July 17/18
Tuesday night/Wednesday morning - July 24/25
Tuesday night/Wednesday morning - July 31/August 1

The MEM Town Hall Meeting is scheduled to duscuss age 60 issues? Maybe they should have a Town Hall Meeting to discuss the first ALPA contract also (kind of old news and not much we can do about it now!)?

----------------------------------

Hub turn meetings scheduled more than a few hours in advance? What's up with that? Good idea guys, I wish I'd thought of it.

----------------------------------

LOA? No need for a "Road Show." Let's just take a pole and then have the MEC get on whatever "train" they think is best. After all, there's no need to follow the wishes to the majoriy of the membership?

----------------------------------

Despite my above sarcasm, I really do appreciate our ALPA volunteers. I just think they've gotten a bit isolated from the membership in recent decisions.

Germantown Centre at 1801 Exeter Road in Germantown. (Germantown Centre) FedEx pilots should be familiar with this location, as we have held numerous rallies and LEC meetings in their facility.

If you've somehow missed out on all those opportunities, head for the intersection of Poplar and Germantown.

ARRIVING FROM THE WEST: Go 1 Block past Germantown Road, and turn left (north) on Exeter Road. Go north past Farmington, and then left into the parking lot of the Germantown Performing Arts Centre and the Germantown Centre. The Germantown Centre is on the left (south side) of the Performing Arts Centre. Enter through the door on the left (south) side and walk all the way to the back (past basketball courts, etc.) to arrive in the Great Hall area.

ARRIVING FROM THE EAST: 1 Block prior to Germantown Rd, turn right (north) on Exeter Road.

ARRIVING FROM THE SOUTH: Turn right (east) on Poplar, then go 1 Block east, and turn left (north) on Exeter Road.

ARRIVING FROM THE NORTH: Turn left (east) on Neshoba. (Neshoba is an intersection with a traffic light, and it as at the bottom of the hill before you ris up into the "heart" of Germantown.) ½ block later, turn right into the parking lot of the Germantown Performing Arts Centre. Continue through that parking lot into the parking lot for the Germantown Centre. The Germantown Centre is on the left (south side) of the Performing Arts Centre. Enter through the door on the left (south) side and walk all the way to the back (past basketball courts, etc.) to arrive in the Great Hall area.

(For those of you who know there's a closer entrance on Watkins Alley, hush! If you know how to find that, you don't need my directions, anyway. And the more people that park on the east side of the building, the more chance I'll have of getting my parking place on the west side! :p )

See you at 1!
