Atlas getting more 777's
Nothing like the brand new airplane smell
Two more 777's: https://airwaysmag.com/atlas-air-ord...o-boeing-777f/ Apparently cargo is coming back at least for the Atlas customers |

One online aviation news source stated these new tails were originally slated for Air Canada but they had backed out. DHL recently took back their 2 wholly owned 777s. However, the pending delivery this month and next of 2 new Atlas/Titan owned 777s from Boeing offsets that. In February two Atlas/Titan owned 777s move from the Polar certificate to the Atlas certificate as they will no longer operate for DHL. Next summer DHL is also removing 2 777s that they control the lease on. These new orders will plug what would’ve been a net loss of 2 airframes for the 777 fleet. There are an additional 5 777Fs that Atlas/Titan owns that are dry-leased. Three are operated by FDX (formerly by TNT). There was an announcement that that dry-lease agreement had recently been renewed. The other two are operated by AeroLogic. I have no idea what the term of that lease is.

Atlas had no pending orders at Boeing so these are probably options some other customer (FedEx?) dropped.

They could be jalopy tuna can 767-200s or 737-400s again for all I care. New (to us) planes = hiring/upgrades.
Also to note we tend to buy second hand 747-400s without press releases. They just kind of show up. Again, who cares as long as they keep the seniority list moving in the right direction! That said getting factory new is a special kind of awesome for any airline. Sounds like we're getting these jets for a song too. Win, win for everyone! |

I know it’s difficult but let’s try this again: (2+2) - 4 = ? A = 12% DC B = close enough to zero C = AA doesn’t require a degree |
Atlas could get an expansionary contract for 50 777s and TiredSoul would be on here going “yeah, but…” in an instant.
Seriously, the most miserable SOB’s are also the ones who could (should) have left years ago. Why are you still here? |

True, not much leverage for requiring upgrades/bodies from a growth standpoint. On a good note: With a replacement plan we're not just running metal down and into the boneyard as a dying entity or in survival mode all things being equal. At least we haven't over staffed by the hundreds (not really a thing with us) putting us well behind the power curve significantly and creating turmoil. <--especially during negotiations... World is always changing and being adaptable and flexible in our world is a talent.
*Not like it's booming in the box hauler world keeping things in perspective. |

Atlas got caught unprepared when DHL took their toys away and they lucked out with the Air Canada cancellation of a freighter order. Now they’re presenting it as this master move of foresight in business planning. Taketh with the left, giveth with the right. |
