I would like to have heard the arguments the other members were countering this logic with during their discussions prior to the vote.
"But Edgar, it's as good as it's gonna get!" wouldn't be a sufficient reply to it.
We are missing a lot of details about how 11 guys could agree to this substandard slap in the face to our pilots. Why did 11 out of 12 of those that are representing us think that this was so much of an improvement that EI's input was disregarded?

Don't forget that Edgar was part of the unanimous crowd in all the other votes. This time, it hits him, and his SFS guys, right squarely in the wallet.
His no vote against the tide was welcome but...his motivation was self serving........and it should have been.

Because this LOA does NOT effect the 11 that voted to send it for ratification. And NO polling was done to ask any of the block members what they would like to see or what there minimums were for a quality move package. IMO, these 11 reps did not do their homewrok or represent their block fairly and rubber stamped this agreement.
Sad, but true.

Do you get stuff in your email from ALPA on a regular basis? If so, let me know and we will double check what happened. If not, check your email address on the ALPA site to make sure it is correct.

With 13 1/2 yrs of personal experience living/flying in Asia and the Pacific (before FEDEX) I can tell you this assessment is "spot on"
Print this e-mail out and carry it with you. Talk it up and share it among all the "yes men" and the "fence sitters" --- this is the true "expert" opinion from the guy on the front line living the expat life looking out for all pilots as we grow internationally.
We CAN defeat this thing with 50% + 1 "No" vote and have to remain focused on the campaing to do that now --- then direct our MEC to get back to the negogiation table and work out an equitable deal for both the company and the pilots.
The deal doesn't need to be platinum or gold plated --- but it can't be lead!
The company's growth is overseas. The want the FDAs up and running AND RLA rules to apply abroad --- the company can and will do better.

EI has always been a no BS guy. He was the same way at ASA as the grievance chairman.
The other 11 are getting the deal for you not them. EI is fighting for his group and himself. Like I've said all along I'm with EI....NO!

I found a "work around" that might work for others, to read the whole thing until the permanent solution can be found. Use the PRINT PREVIEW on your browser, and adjust the margins. It's a bit of a hassle, but it's a way of filling in the little blanks left by the right margin.
YMMV
