New RCP....and the beat goes on

A former Airbus Lead Instructor, Scott currently serves as the Airbus
International Lead Instructor, APD, PCA/Flex IP

Let's see....OR hasn't smelled line flying since he rode the crew bus back from his HKG/CDG apt hunting trip and now it looks like his new RCP has had his permanent mailing address over at the school house for the last 10+ years. Jury is still out but, looks like cronyism is alive and well in flight management. What was that other mgmt guy saying about "apply next time there is an opening in flight management if you don't like how things are done". Hmmm....never saw a posting for this position after the other guy resigned last month AND I wasn't in the military/USAF.

Scott is a good guy. I'll give him a pass until he proves otherwise.

The greatest news of all was that DM returns to the line! :D:D

Hey Hamfist. Do you even know SJ? Have you ever worked with him, been taught by him, had a checkride from him. Can you speak with any credibility when it comes to his credibility?

If so, then post your experience with him so you can have some credibility.

Scott is a great aviator and professional. Lets give him a chance.

chief pilot

Purple guys...

At least your Paris chief pilot was a line guy not from the Memphis area. At the very least his couple thousand hours of fedex capt time give him a bit of credibility to be a chief pilot, unlike our brown instant capts/check airmen. Good luck with your vote; from talking to my bud I think you're damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Hamfisted,

It's because of cronyism that the very vast majority of us are working here at FedEx. I can't fault someone for wanting guys whom they are familiar with, and have respect for, to be working for/with them. Personally, I enjoy flying with guys I know and who I know are good people as well as good pilots. These management gigs are very similar. It is the "good old boy network" personified, and as for me, I'm glad they are willing to do it, because I'm not, and I don't begrudge them their extra large piece of the pie. As others have said, many times, let's give the guy the benefit of the doubt. We can always b!tch about him later, when and if he earns it.

Many years ago I worked for a legacy airline that was looking for a new CEO. ALPA was deciding whether to endorse the former CEO of USAir who was now unemployed.

A union member stood up at the ALPA meeting and said, "I commute from CLT, the heart of USAir country and the USAir folks view him as a guy who surrounds himself with a bunch of smart people that make him look good."

The next guy stood up and said, "That's better than how we do it around here, where the CEO surrounds himself with a bunch of STUPID people to make him look good."

I suppose it's all in your perspective ...
