Sad day at UPS
The IPA Executive Board and staff are deeply saddened to report the death of B727 Captain Rob Lucka. Rob was on medical leave since June 2006 when he was diagnosed with cancer. He died Sunday, July 22 after being moved to St. Vincent’s Hospice. He was surrounded by family and friends. Funeral arrangements are pending. Our thoughts and prayers are with Rob’s wife, Gayle, and two children, Taylor (15) and Grace (4 mos).
Crewmembers can still sign a special photo of the B727 in flight that was to be given to Rob and his family. The picture will remain in the Crew Ready Room for most of the day. It will be given to the family in the coming days. Additionally, expressions of Sympathy may be sent to: 325 Pickwick Ct. Noblesville, IN. 46062. |
Sorry to hear about the death of B727 Captain Rob Lucka. I hope you don't mind but I have a question about how information is disseminated when a crewmember is seriously ill or dies. Does UPS allow a picture to be viewed of the crewmember? The reason I ask is when we get a notification (FCIF) of a crewmember who died or is ill FedEx will not allow a picture to be associated with that crewmembers name. I have written several times requesting that we can look up the crewmembers ID photo on the secure side of the web site so we can determine if we ever flew with the person. Many times I read the name and it sounds familiar but I can't put a face with the name. If I had access to a photo it might make the difference on whether I send a card or assistance to the family. Just wondering how this is handled at UPS.

Even though I never met Rob, I kinda feel like I know him because of the union (IPA) website, and the updates on his condition. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to his family and friends. God bless. |
Fair skies and following winds my friend. Godspeed to you and yours.
