Sad note
Taking a moment from the muck fights to ask everyone to check their FCIFs. We had a crew member pass away today.
Very sorry to hear the sad news. Does anyone know the details? |
It's always a bummer to read these.
I still wish that they would attach a photo, for those of us that are name recall challenged. |
God Bless him and his family..

I still wish that they would attach a photo, for those of us that are name recall challenged. I have often recognized a name of an ill or deceased crewmember but couldn't put a face with the name. A photo may have made the difference on whether I would have sent a card, money or other condolences to the family. About a year ago one of our Airbus F/O's who flew SIBA a lot passed away due to cancer. While we couldn't see his picture the passionate people at OPs in Paris put a nice page with a color picture up on their bulletin board for all to see. I saw it and immediately recognized him as someone I had seen many times in Paris Ops and in the AOC. Had I not seen the picture he was just a familiar name with no face. I suggest we do as the UPS pilots do and put something on our MEC web site. UPS recently lost a Captain to cancer a few days ago and the union put up a nice web page on their web site with a biography on the pilot including his picture. |
Paul was a good guy. A long time DC10 FO, I flew with him several months when I was in the back seat. Always ready to hit the town and buy a beer. He was in the process of A300 Capt checkout.

Maybe, but when it's my turn, I'd like to go that way too. Actually, if a person has a terminal disease, there's really no better way to go. I'm sure that he died of something (cancer, heart disease, etc), as very few people just "pass away in their sleep.":( Regardless, it is a very sad thing, especially for the family. God Speed.
