When it rains...

...it pours  Need to re-calibrate that "MK-1" eyeball

BANGKOK, Thailand — An Airbus A380, the world's largest passenger jet, scraped the tip of a wing on a building at Bangkok's international airport Saturday as it was preparing for a demonstration flight, officials of the aircraft company and Thai Airways said.

Cheers!

What's the big deal? They've been able to defer those endplate winglets for years with a fuel penalty. In fact if you look at pictures of the early production A320-100's that went to Air France and BCAL(since BA), they didn't even have winglets.

"It's no big deal"...Could you imagine the queen bee of our fleet, our flagship being an A380 and one of our crews 'clipping' a wing on something...I don't think we would get the "It's no big deal" response! Hang them!!!

It was all planned as part of the "dispatch reliability" demonstration. Next agenda item is to get a truck stuck in the mud due to a deferred camera system.

I think a movie (Airport - part deux) is to be part of that recovery! :D

I thought we were discussing the ramifications to the plan not the crew-of course it's a big deal to the crew.

When it can be avoided........"Never fly the "A" model of anything". At least until it becomes the "A+":)

Winglets are just a crutch for a weak pilot.
