UPS 2006 hiring projections?
What is the rumor for 2006? Will the number of new hires brought on be about the same as this year, around 300?
Is anyone getting in without a UPS recommendation?
Replies are much appreciated. Thanks.

I know of nobody that was hired without a recommendation. As for the numbers for 2006, at least 300 would be safe to say. Depending on how the age 65 issue goes and how many over 60 S/O's retire with the new contract it could be double that with rumors of doing some outside training. Also an open skies deal with the EU would bring much more flying to the IPA.

In the schoolhouse I heard that 2006 will also be "maxed" out. 747-400 training will start in the summer, with those sims being outside of Louisville.
No, it's still the same at UPS: Recommendations Rule. And if you have 3 or 4, even better.

Why would the 747-400F training start this summer? The first delivery is not scheduled until summer 2007. Are the rumors true that UPS wants to take delivery 8 months early. And has there been any "official" numbers from HR?

I haven't heard any official hiring numbers from HR. Maybe someone else has.

I work in the training center and have asked repeatedly for 06 numbers, The only ones who know for sure are the guys in ATL, and their not talking. As mentioned before, I think the contract has a lot to do with the crew planning numbers...

Has anyone heard if working on the ramp or as a package handler for UPS will help your chances of getting an interview?
I am flying a jungle lawn dart for bEagle and working on the ramp at UPS on my days off. Just wondering if any one knows if it helps.
I know of a couple of F/O's at bEagle that did that at FedEx and are now flying for them.
Thanks.

not sure it actually helps to get an interview (of course networking with your managers and sup. may ???). i have heard that once you have the interview it is discussed and could be very helpful in actually getting the job.

FWIW, I heard that a managers recommendation (any manager at UPS in any department) carries more weight than a rec from a senior captain. This is from my buddy that had a managers rec and got hired, but he also had a rec from a couple of pilots so it's hard to say which one actually got him the interview.
