Headed to ANC today, maybe there will be some new rumours around the breakfast table. Did hear that c360 guys had till the end of the month to except or deny emploment offer. Rumour though, as is most info lately!

I was just applying for a home loan and needed to calculate how much money I made at Southern Air. After my first (and only) 12 months which included training I made $35,500. If you include the 3 months that I was gone for training I was home an average of 8 days a month. After 12 months 7 of the 21 pilots in my new hire class remained, most had upgraded.

I assume that the 35.5k was gross, no pun intended, ouch :( I would hope that year 2 would be much better ($) for those guys that stayed on. Do you think that your experience was typical? If I understand correctly, 14 out of 21 are no longer employed at SAI ( = quit or were terminated) and of the 7 that remain, most are now CAPTs. Or did they start as a SOs and are now FOs? Either way, that is a lot of turnover, tough to make money doing that much training, unless you are in the training bid-ness.... SD |

Southern tried to slow down the training machine by applying a training contract and bond. My new-hire class was the first to get the corrective action! The upgrades mentioned were the Right to Left variety. The need for the upgrades was not attrition, but growth. We are now at ten airframes vs half that number a little over 18 months ago.
Southern hires PFEs and requires the A&P. There has been one FE-FO transition. That individual had to meet ATP certification minimums to be evaluated for the program. Good for him! Anchorage weather for today: Cool and wet:cool: |
