Default Training Canceled?

I had my CMV2/CLOE canceled with 3 days notice because they needed my sim slot for another crew that busted or something. I originally had a 91 hour line, now I have 76 hours of pay on a 81 hour BLG after view/add (nothing else would fit the line). Looks like I'll be short BLG, and the training pay won't be there to make it up now except about 3 hours for the CBTs.

My question is; am I entitled to anything for this, since without training I would have left my line at 91 hours since it was commutable? Training caused me to totally redesign my line, and now they took it away. (Looks like 2 days in base for no pay before the next trip!)

If nothing else, you are certainly entitled to my sympathy, and have it. It stinks when your forced to change your schedule, for reasons beyond your control. However, if it's any consolation, I'm sure the guys who busted, are very appreciative of your sim time to allow them to regain their currency.

Did the time end up in your make-up bank? At least you can make it up later.
I had a sim cancel two months in a row and each time I had to fight for the pay. They said since I didn't complete the sim I wouldn't get paid.
I had to argue that since I showed up on a day off, I should get paid. I did.

Excellent question and I'm very interested in how this will turn out but I would call ALPA and have them investigate your options for you. Put those hard earned union dues to work for yourself, the resourses are available so use them to your advantage.

Thanks for the sympathetic responses all, I have to say that this is one area where not having substitution is a raw deal! At least with sub I would have the pay covered. Now I am sure I'll be SOL for my original BLG. I've got an email in to ALPA on this, just waiting for a reply. The Captain I'm flying with said it sounds like a raw deal to him too.

I'll let you guys know the outcome.

Default Don't Let ALPA Roll on this one

Don't let ALPA roll over on this one - this is obviously not the intent we had when negotiating the contract - at least I hope we wouldn't be that stupid. So make sure you get paid - not just something put in your make up bank. There's too many of us that have hundreds of hours in our make up bank that will never be able to make up. It's only make up - it's not money. If nothing else, have them assign you R-24 for two days. If the company doesn't pay, grieve it, even if ALPA says it doesn't want to. I'm tired of our contract eroding away because we dont' fight.

Thanks, yeah I'm waiting for a reply from ALPA on this one. I can't believe that we would have this loophole in the contract. I heard that you used to get paid for your bidline back in the day, even if training knocked out a trip, and there was no sub. The good old days!

I had my training cnx at the last minute as well. My training had conflicted a BLG trip, but now that trip is lost and there is no undisputed trips in open time. I called Alpa contract folks and they said the contract does not help on this one. They can do it to you and you lose the pay protection.

We need to get this fixed in the contract, I can hardly believe that this is the intent of the new view/add, and the fact that you can bid for training now. There needs to be a recourse for the company messing with your schedule at the last minute, and us loosing pay for it. My BLG trips that were knocked out were worth over 49 hours, and I was only able to get 39 hours back in the view add. My training dates were nearing my last choices, and now I'm out about 10 hours for September. This stinks, and it is happening to more than just me it seams. Before this contract your training would have likely been on days off anyway, and your BLG would not have been affected.
