Most of the reserve, junior caps, I have worked with on the whale indicated that the "ocho" is where they are trying to get to when they are displaced. Over the past year or so the schedule, with the exception of a Hong Kong trip and an ANC trip are nothing more than domestic stuff like the 8 does. The 8 schedules are best suited for those looking to have a schedule like the 747 and are getting bumped.

I wish that was true, but the latest intel is that they will start parking them in large numbers next year with the last one gone by 2012.

I've heard Oct, Dec and late spring of next year (from different trng. dept. folks).

Wow, so we are parking 727s and classic 747s and now DC8s too? I know we are getting some 767s but not for a few years, on top of that age 65 is coming. Am I getting furloughed? Man, I need a purple pill...

Default Bid

The system bid will be Oct. 8th. Mostly displacements off the 747 classic.

AV8OR,

Look at it this way: most of the "junior" FE's are the ones that will be eligible to come back if or when Age 65 passes. The quicker that 3-place A/C are put out to pasture, so do the FE's. No FE A/C = no FE's = no worry about furlough.

All kidding aside, I don't think that folks need to worry about anything, except for going to PANC. We have int'l growth happening, even with the draw down of 727's and eventually the -8. The way I see it, is if you want int'l, you can get it and get a hard line (may not be very good), but if you want to do the domestic stuff and have generally week on/week off, plan on sitting RSV with little upward movement. Not much growth domestically. So, as a wise man once told me when I first started here: bid the A/C that you want to fly because you may end up there for a while, and don't chose an A/C because it overnights in your hometown. Chances are, it will change.

Let's see what manpower planning has in store for us..

Hello my friend. How the old crashpad? Glad I'm not doing the "paperwork" anymore! Just thought I would let you know who this is.

So, in other words, they will start parking them in 8 years and the last one will be gone in 2021.

Had SVT last month and was told they are on the books until at least 2013. Take it for what it is worth, but I don't think the ocho is going anywhere for a while. There are those at UPS that want the 8 gone and those who have a reality check when they see what little spare lift we actually have.
