Magic FX and Open Time?

Folks,

Anyone had experience with how well the MagicFX auto trip trade program has worked during the initial crush of open time availability. How well does it deal with "Vips Server Busy" etc.? Thx.:o

What is MagicFX? What can it do for you?

SNIZ 09-26-2007 12:18 PM

Actually, it's called MagicWebFX....here is the link:

http://magicwebfx.net/index.html

It has some auto trip trade and auto jumpseat reservations capabilities that look handy but I'm just starting to use it...not the expert.

Just looking for feedback from someone who has used on crazy Thursay night.

I never was successful after 3 separate Thursday attempts ... perhaps all the bugs have been fixed since, but it never performed anywhere near the level of its predecessor, MagicDisk.

NightBusDriver,

Did it get hung up on the busy server?

Philosophy and Help File Notes

SNIZ,

This answer below may not be exactly what you're looking for, but thought it might help. If anyone has had problems with the program, use the website Email links or PM me and let me what happened so the program can be improved.

MagicWebFX was designed as an Automation Assistant to help you do many different tasks on the pilot website faster and/or easier. The auto-reserve/submit functions were designed as alternatives for those times when you can't be at the computer at the appointed hour to hit the enter key.

Trading Philosophy: There are lot of variables (connections, server speeds, system loads, etc) that affect the timely submission of any trip trade, including up to 600 other guys vying for the same "first" timestamp. So the program is not and never was meant to be a guaranteed solution.

Trip trading is ultimately a game of chance and all we can do is attempt to increase our odds of success. MagicWebFX offers you the advantages of timely submission of your first trade and automatic cycling against "VIPS Server Busy" messages. It also offers the advantage of being able to scan Open Time for only the new trips added since your last download for the next round of trades. And, if you are able to "see" it first, you can increase your odds of being the first one to trade for it.

Notes from the Help File:

1. Please read the Computer Clock and Timers section for essential details. Tells how the time check/sync is performed.

2. MagicWebFX logs on and sets up a separate window for each trade. At execute time, it submits the first trade. There is no guarantee that you will not receive the dreaded "VIPS Server Busy" message. But, MagicWebFX will do the same thing you would (but a lot faster); it will keep attempting to submit the trade by 'cycling' back and forth until it succeeds. Once the trade is submitted and a response is received (either a confirmation or error message) that window will close and the next trade will be executed until none remain. Trade results are saved and can be viewed using the Files Viewer button.

3. A "hung" trade is defined as no apparent screen activity with no IE load progress bar at the bottom of window. For a "hung" web page trade, hit the ESCape key to abort/close MagicWebFX and manually click the submit button (if it says VIPS server busy- hit BACK button first).

Caution: MagicWebFX submits trades in a sequential order and waits for a response before submitting the next trade. That means there will be a time delay between your trades due to Server Busy messages and the slower server response times encountered during peak trading hours (i.e. it may take a longer time for the screens to load).

It has worked great for me. Especially before the recent changes to VIPS that changed access to the mainframe (Bluescreen). I would preload my trip trade requests and sit back and watch. It took care of all the rest. I haven't used it very often recently because I haven't needed to. But I recommend it. If nothing else, you've got nothing to lose by trying it.

Anybody managed to get the mobile device feed function work for open time (where it either sends your cell a text message or email with a pop up open time)? I can't get either to work on my verizon phone and have no problem sending text or emails from the web on other programs.

Tuck,

Text messages being sent by the 3d party software in the program (GoText) aren't making it through to some carriers (Verizon for one). Ver 1.50, 2Sep07, has an added user info field to allow sending the text messages using your phone's email address. Works with my verizon phone. The extra setup may require reading the Help File to figure out your smtp server and phone's email address. But since no one will see you doing it, your reputation will remain intact.

MagicFX Followup

Two thumbs up for this program. Used it last night during the 9pm open time food fight and it worked pretty well. I think it was a little faster than I could have been dealing with (back button, resubmit) the dreaded "vips server busy" msg. You can load 6 trades and it will do them sequentially.

The "get new trips only" open time search function is also handy.

I could not make the jumpseat function complete an international jumpseat because a passport was needed and I received an error msg saying something about proof of US citizenship was required. Had to book the seat over the phone.

Recommend carefully syncing your computer time with the Fedex mainframe. I had to manually adjust my computer's time to match. The fedex mainframe time matches the time on www.time.gov if you need a hack. MagicWebFX checks this time as it sets the timer for your trades.
