From the Tricare South Website:

If you have your prescription filled at a non-network pharmacy or if you have other health insurance with a prescription drug plan, you will need to submit a claim to the pharmacy contractor for reimbursement.

I think Uncle Sam make you work for that copay.

Now JJ, are you saying I should actually be using my CIGNA benefits and then somehow submitting that expense to TRICARE to reimburse me, effectively giving me zero out of pocket cost?

Do I have to submit the paperwork myself...or can the pharmacist file it with both like my doctor does?

I've been using TRICARE Std to cover all of my CIGNA doctor office/emergency room/surgery copays but not for perscriptions.

Thanks.
Yes, I'm saying that if you buy prescription drugs at your local pharmacy, use the FedEx insurance as your primary. Then (we do it) about once a quarter, we ask the pharmacy to give us a printout of the prescription drugs we purchased during that quarter, and then, using the TriCare forms, submit the entire list to TriCare for reimbursement, thereby effectively giving us a zero out of pocket cost. As nothing is free, it does take a few hours a quarter to do all the paperwork involved, but it's time well spent.

Got it....thanks.

I especially like the quarterly idea --- makes the paperwork less painful.

Luckily, we've only had to fill 2 or 3 very minor/low cost prescriptions over the past few years.

I guess this would be a much bigger benefit for those families who have medical issues requiring continuous or very expensive prescriptions.

Question

When I went to the EHR site and clicked on "Enrole", the only options I was given was to view my 2007 enrolement choices. It said nothing about 2008. Did anybody else have this problem?

You need to click on the enroll option, not the enrole option!

Seriously though, I haven't been to the site yet.

I did it this morning and it was a breeze. When you first log on, ensure you to click on 2008 in the top right hand corner. It took me all of 2 minutes and I am computer challenged.

Earlier this year Walgreens began filing primary (fedex) and secondary (tricare) at the time of purchase, making the cost to us 0$. I no longer have that task of sending printouts and tricare forms to the tricare drug contract group. If you have Walgreens, ask them to file for you. If not, ask whatever pharmacy you use...it is a piece of cake if they agree to do it.

Default Flexible spending accounts

Does anybody know how these monies will be managed? Let's say I put $2,000 in for the medical expenses and $2,000 in for childcare expenses. How do you allocate those monies to the vendors??

Thanks!

I'm not sure about the child care account but unless there is a big change, the HCSA gives you a debit card and you just charge copays, etc. If the charge is not identifiable as a medical related expense, the administering company (currently wage works) will ask for a copy of the receipt. I've used it for doctor and subscription copays and for medicine Cigna would not cover.
