And of course, Jules' explanation....

Jules: There's a passage I got memorized. Ezekiel 25:17. The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you. I been sayin' that $hi+ for years. And if you ever heard it, it meant your a$$. I never really questioned what it meant. I thought it was just a cold-blooded thing to say to a motherf%%&er before you popped a cap in his a$$. But I saw some $hi+ this mornin' made me think twice. Now I'm thinkin': it could mean you're the evil man. And I'm the righteous man. And Mr. 9mm here, he's the shepherd protecting my righteous a$$ in the valley of darkness. Or it could be you're the righteous man and I'm the shepherd and it's the world that's evil and selfish. I'd like that. But that $hi+ ain't the truth. The truth is you're the weak. And I'm the tyranny of evil men. But I'm tryin', Ringo. I'm tryin' real hard to be a shepherd.

I want you to go in that bag, and find my wallet.

Pumpkin: Which one is it?
Jules: It's the one that says Bad Motherf&&&&r

Here comes the PG-13 police--enough with the quotes with questionable language. Please keep it clean. I love these movies also but remember, these movies were rated R for a reason.

One item I would like to see put forth as a priority opener is if a pairing is disputed it cannot be assigned or picked up under any paycode except reserve. Since we can't police/dicsipline ourselves to not fly them this would be a good "fiat" fix.

R-rated ? who cares? How many people on this site are under 17?

As a guy who sits reserve and has to fly disputed pairings, I don't like this idea.

My preference - Disputed pairings may ONLY be assigned to VTOs who specifically request them by pairing number. If they're not assigned to a VTO, then they must be assigned to a management pilot... with between 1.5 and 2 hours notice. And once disputed, a pairing remains forever disputed.

I suspect that this would get the disputed pairings fixed.

I sit reserve as well, but by assigning them only to reserves as our CBA currently provides (aside from voluntary pick ups) would provide strong incentive to the company to fix them so they don't burn their reserves up .

Since we're talking about "priority openers" we're not restricted to what our current CBA says.

My proposal would mean that the only ones who HAVE to fly disputed pairings are management... and THAT will provide the company a far stronger incentive to fix them... partially through realizing how onerous they are, and partially by driving the office drones out of bed to fly when the rest of us do.

OK, I'll go for that. Now we need to figure out how much negotiating capitol will be required to get it (methinks that "managment" won't go quietly into the night), and where this would fall on the overall priority list. It represents a gain whom all would benefit from in terms of scheduling and QOL. How this would stack up against pay raises and better MED/Retirment I don't know
