Flight Time Limits Question

Don't we have the same max 30 hours in 7 days rule as the other 121 carriers? As this domestic solution progresses I'm seeing pairings that seem to violate this - look at LAX pairing 57 on 6 Nov - 31.5 block hours in under 7 days??

No, we work Under Part 121 supplemental not Domestic Flag.

If we transistion to FLAG ops, you would be correct.

Ok I hear you but I thought that the main differences between supplemental and normal were alternates and filing/dispatch/etc not the other things. We're still limited to 8 hours with 2 crew, 12 hours with 3 crew and FAR duty limits that are drawn from straight 121. I can't find any specifics in the FARs that make differences between 121 and 121 Supplemental. Are these written down specifically anywhere?

Sec 121.471 lays down the basic limitations for Domestic operations. Subsection (a)(3) reads "30 hours in any 7 consecutive days."

Sec 121.481 lays down the basic limitations for Flag operations. Subsection (d) reads "No pilot may fly more than 32 hours during any seven consecutive days."

Sec 121.503 is the corresponding section for Supplemental operators and contains no equivelant restriction on hours in 7 days.

Back in the pre-LIDO days, we got the Jepps FDX25 which was the AIM/FARS and had all of Part 121 included. Now with LIDO, it's harder to be familiar with the actual regs, versus the company interpretations in the FOM.
