Kalitta to get 400's sooner than later !!!
It seems they pushed up the delivery schedule, the first 747-400 will be at Kalitta in Feb-March 2008.
The first bid was just put out for Jan 28th class, 10 Capt's and 6 F/O's for the first a/c, with 11 more to follow.
I wonder how many "Old School" guys will bid it?

Any Kallita pilots on here got a few minutes to answer a few questions?
I see your guarantee is only 62 hours. Is that a realistic number when trying to guess what your first year pay is going to be based on, or do most people fly more than that?
Home basing is great, but how does Kallita pay you for the deadhead from your home to the plane?
What are the coach/business class rules for overseas/long leg deadheads.
Do reserves base from home as well?
I heard that Kallita was upgrading their older fleet to glass, true?
Are the new aircraft coming in replacement or fleet expansion?
I see upgrades are less than 2 years, do they anticipate that number to change, especially since the have new aircraft coming on property?
Finally, I'm a 10,000 hour plus regional guy/former Army pilot (Black Hawk) and have a small amount of time flying frieght. How competitive is that in the hiring scheme?
Oh, one more thing...... Feel free to give me your impression of the company. Do the pilots get treated well? Do most pilots make a career out of Kallita, or is it a stepping stone to Fed EX? What's the best/worst part about working for Kallita?
Thank you in advance for your information and advice,

Here is the press release
JAL to fuel Kalitta’s growth
07-Dec-2007 : US carrier Kalitta Air, will buy 10 of Japan Airlines’s Boeing 747-400BCFs, a deal that suits both carriers’ fleet renewal targets.
JAL will deliver the first B747-400BCF in May 2009, according to Kalitta, which is also negotiating for a second BCF to be added in July 2009. The sale of the remaining eight aircraft has yet to be confirmed. Kalitta will be the envy of many international airlines in signing on the dotted line for the BCFs, demanded worldwide.
Connie Kalitta, the airline’s chief executive officer, said: “This is an exciting time for us. This purchase marks a milestone for Kalitta Air, which is completing another year of record revenues and is solidly positioned for future growth.”
Kalitta wants to complete the much sought after acquisition of all 10 converted aircraft by 2011, adding to its existing fleet of 19 B747-200 freighters.
