stay or go,
Send me your email and I'll give you some reasons why I picked UPS over FedEx.. Both great companies and yes I have questioned my choice a coupla times.

"So now I resent my company for paying me 26k and I am beginning to resent the IPA for threatening a strike for a contract that pays me 20% less than my peers at FedEx"
Sounds like you aren't too happy with the company or the union. I'd go to Fedex.

Should I stay or go?
If you go, you are crazy!! I think I know who you are. I won't reveal a thing. This contract will be over soon; maybe a strike, maybe not. But this is the best to work on the planet and the most secure. Look at the debt structure compared to Fedex. That alone should make up your mind.
Please stay!!

Your pay will roughly double on year two on the current contract. You knew the pay before coming onboard, so I have little sympathy for you regarding that. Getting the F/O pay slope corrected is VERY high up on the list for the N/C, E/B. If you do decide to go to FedEx, remember that the grass in not always greener. The FedEx pilot group is not nearly as unified as the IPA, regardless of what blowhards on a message board will tell you. Just look at what happened last time when Fred threatened to shut down FedEx and start over. FedEx alpa is only wanting an 8% raise.

Personally I would take all advice from anoynomus sources with a grain of salt.
With that in mind I certainly understand your feelings about first year pay at UPS. I would be careful about making assumtions about any future pay increases at UPS with the new contract. I am not saying 2nd year F/O pay will be lower or higher just that the number you stated is a wild guess.
I dont think UPS will change its attitude towards its pilots in your lifetime. If it bothers you alot now ........... well give it another 25 years lol.
Also with UPS's current pay per seat with out any distinction between widebody and narrowbody pay it is difficult to get the UPS hourly rate equal to a widebody rate at FEDEX. Perhaps this explains the difference between the pay estimates you mentioned? And yes, when there is a strike the pilots would expect you to strike with them.
Concerning mil leave your best bet is to follow the letter of the law exactly and UPS will have no recourse.... except of course checkrides which was a vailed threat from someone posing as a UPS mgt pilot. Once off probation, mil leave will not be a request, it will simply be a notification that you will be unavailable for company duties.
Which company will be around in 50 to pay your penison.....your guess is as good as mine.
Good luck

Upon reading your post again, I suggest that you go to FedEx. If you are not willing to support the IPA 100%, we have no use for you here. Just don't come crawling back wanting your old job back when Fred finishes royally screwing alpa.
